10/31/2021 4:51:00 PM | Women's Golf

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team moved up another two spots on the leaderboard to finish the Landfall Tradition in fourth place. Three Demon Deacons finished inside the top 25.

Rachel Kuehn led the charge on the final day, firing her best score of the event, a three-under 69. She started her round with a birdie on the first hole of the day and recorded a second one before the turn to sit even par after her first nine holes. Her second nine holes started with three birdies in a row on 15, 16 and 17 to put her three under par. A bogey and another birdie on two of her final four holes kept her at three under for the day. She was the top finisher for the Deacs, coming in at T12 on the individual board.

Carolina Chacarra continued her steady play for the Deacs, finishing her final round with a one-over score of 73. She finished even par for the event and T17 on the individual board. Virunpat Olankitkunchai rounded out the Deacs in the top 25, finishing T23 and two over on the day and the tournament.

At the end of the lineup, Mimi Rhodes and Vanessa Knecht finished T43 and T52 respectively. Playing as an individual, Lauren Walsh had her best round of the event come on the final day. The junior shot a four-under 68 to jump 34 spots on the leaderboard into the top 35. She finished the event at five over par and T34 on the individual board.

The Landfall Tradition was the final event of the fall season for Wake Forest. As a team, they finished inside the top five in each of their four fall events, with two team titles coming at the Bryan National Collegiate in September and the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite in October. The Deacs will open their spring season in Orlando, Florida February 6-8 at the UCF Challenge.

Coach's Comments
"We had a good fall season this year. We always use the fall as an opportunity to see what needs to be worked on for the Championship season in the spring. We have an extremely talented team and are looking forward to taking the next few months to train for what's ahead." - head coach Kim Lewellen
