The duo proved key in Saturday’s victory versus Duke as Wake Forest won its fifth Atlantic Coast Conference game of the season.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest football redshirt sophomore quarterback Sam Hartman and redshirt junior offensive lineman Zach Tom received Atlantic Coast Conference weekly honors for their key contributions in the Demon Deacons' week nine victory against Duke, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Hartman was named Quarterback of the Week for the second-consecutive week, while Tom, who was tabbed Offensive Lineman of the Week, received the first ACC honor of his Wake Forest career.
Quarterback of the Week
Quarterback Sam Hartman finished Saturday's contest 24-of-37 for 402 yards and three touchdowns. Additionally, Hartman added a pair of touchdowns on the ground, setting a new career high. In total on the ground, Hartman rushed for a career-high 61 yards on six carries. Hartman had a 42-yard rush in the second quarter that set a new career high for the redshirt sophomore.
Hartman is now the first quarterback in Wake Forest history to have four consecutive 300-plus yard passing games and the second quarterback in program history to post back-to-back 400-plus yard passing games.
Over the past four games, Hartman has thrown the ball for 1,514 yards, 13 touchdowns and just two interceptions while completing his passes at a 64.5 clip.
After throwing for the sixth-most yards in program history last week against Army, Hartman's 402 yards from Saturday ranks 11th all-time.
With the passing performance, Hartman moved into fifth in Wake Forest history in career passing yardage, passing Mike Elkins (1985-88) and Gary Schofield (1981-83) to move into the top five.
Hartman's three touchdown passes increased his career total to 55 as the redshirt sophomore is now four touchdown throws away from tying for the second-most touchdown throws in program history. Additionally, his 22 touchdowns this season ranks fourth in Wake Forest.
Sam Hartman has completed 163-of-250 passes to open the season for a completion percentage of 65.2 percent. Wake Forest Sports Hall of Famer Riley Skinner holds the Demon Deacons and ACC record after completing 236-of-326 (72.4%) over 11 games in 2007.
Through eight games, Sam Hartman ranks among the best quarterbacks in nearly every passing category:

Offensive Lineman of the Week
Zach Tom was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week for the first time of his career as he anchored the Wake Forest offensive line that tallied 677 yards, the second-highest total in program history and the most in a Demon Deacon home game.
Overall, Tom helped Wake Forest's offense score 45 points and total 266 rushing yards, 411 passing yards and 29 first downs. The Demon Deacons averaged 6.3 yards per play in the run game. Individually, Tom tallied two knockdowns and did not allow a sack and pressure.

According to Pro Football Focus, Tom has the highest pass blocking rating (92.0) in the country. Tom is the No. 25 tackle in the nation with an overall rating of 81.3.
The two-time ACC Academic Team honoree, ACC Postgraduate Scholarship recipient and Campbell Trophy Semifinalist was also placed on the Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List, Phil Steele Preseason All-ACC First Team and Preseason Fourth Team All-American by Phil Steele prior to the year.
