Wake Forest Looks to Regain Momentum Versus Virginia

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball team (13-12, 4-10 ACC) will look to get back in the win column on Friday night when they host the Virginia Cavaliers (8-16, 1-13 ACC) at 7 p.m. in Varsity Arena. Friday's match will be the second-to-last home match of the season.
Prior to the match on Friday, the Women's Center and Athletics have partnered to host a "Wake for Woman Tailgate" to celebrate 50 years of Women's athletics at Wake Forest. The tailgate will include free food, music, tee-shirts, swag-packs, posters and more and it begins at 6:00 p.m. in the hallway just outside Varsity Arena.
Statistically, Wake Forest has remained inside the top 10 in multiple categories since the start of the season. They are fourth in the league in service aces, with 1.47 per set. They are ninth in kills (13.00/set), ninth in hitting percentage (.236) and seventh in blocks (2.25/set).
Senior setter Andrea Fuentes is fifth in the Atlantic Coast Conference in assists per set, with 9.90/set through 88 sets. She has tallied 871 helpers through 25 matches, which is fourth-most in the league. She is also eighth in the league in service aces, averaging 0.34/set.
Freshman libero Kalani Whillock is second in the league in digs per set, averaging 4.06 through 88 sets. Her 357 total digs is fourth in the league.
Grad transfer Kamryn Malloy plays all six rotations for the Deacs and leads the team in total kills for the season, tallying 319 through 25 matches. She has also amassed 196 digs, which is second on the team, behind Whillock (357). She leads the team with an average of 3.58 kills per set. She is currently sixth in the league in points (4.13/set) and her 3.58 kills/set is good for eighth in the league.

Wake Forest will host Virginia on Friday evening at 7 p.m. in Varsity Arena.

Virginia leads the series, 26-28. Wake Forest is currently on a three game win streak against the Cavaliers.

Last Time Out
The Wake Forest volleyball team dropped their last outing to Duke in Durham last Friday 3-0. The Deacs were led by Kamryn Malloy's team-high 12 kills and six digs. Kalani Whillock recorded a match-high 17 digs to lead the Deacs defensively. Ashley Slater chipped in seven kills, while Delaney McSweeney and Olivia Franke each recorded five of their own. McSweeney also defended the net well, she recorded three block assists on the night.
