
Wake Forest Continues Homestand Thursday Against Charlotte

The Demon Deacons will look to tie the best start in the Jen Hoover era at LJVM Coliseum as the Deacs are in search of a 4-0 start to the season.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's basketball team continues its four-game homestand Thursday night at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum against in-state Charlotte.
The Demon Deacons (3-0) will be in search of tying their best start in the Jen Hoover era as they look to start the season 4-0. The only other time Wake Forest has begun the season unblemished through the first four games during the Hoover era was during the 2014-15 season. The Deacs have been led by the ACC's leading scorer, Jewel Spear, in the first three games as she has averaged 23.3 points per game which also ranks 20th nationally.
Charlotte (1-1), who has now played the Demon Deacons for five consecutive seasons, is coming off a 89-33 loss against North Carolina on Sunday. Charlotte is led by two double-digit scorers in Octavia Jett-Wilson (12.0 PPG) and KeKe McKinney (10.0 PPG). The 49ers also have a win under their belt against Richmond to open the season with Jett-Wilson and McKinney both finishing in double figures.
Tipoff for Thursday night's game against the 49ers is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (ET) at LJVM Coliseum. The game can also be seen onACC Network Extra.

FEAR THE SPEAR
Sophomore guard Jewel Spear continues to build off her record-setting freshman campaign as through three games of the new season she is the leading scorer in the conference with 23.3 points per game. This also ranks 20th nationally. For her efforts in the opening week of the season, Spear was named the ACC Co-Player of the Week that included a career-best effort against Cornell.
The Colony, Texas native tallied a career-high 32 points against the Big Red on Friday night, becoming the first Wake Forest player to top the 30-plus point mark since Dearica Hamby in 2014-15. She followed that up with a 24-point performance against UNC-Greensboro on Sunday to help the Deacs to a 3-0 start to the season.

The Demon Deacons captured their third double-digit win of the season against UNC-Greensboro on Sunday afternoon at LJVM Coliseum, limiting the Spartans to just 2-of-7 shooting in the fourth quarter.

Jewel Spear led the Deacs in scoring for the second consecutive game, dropping in 24 points including going 8-of-10 from the free throw line.
