GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest women's golfer Rachel Kuehn has been named Co-Women's Golfer of the Month for the month of October by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Kuehn is coming off a record-breaking performance three weeks ago at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite in Chapel Hill. Kuehn shot a record-low 63 in the second round en route to the individual title. The Demon Deacons also took home the team title from the event by 10 strokes.
Kuehn's 63 is the lowest 18-hole score in Wake Forest program history and is the lowest single-round score recorded at the Tar Heel Invite, which has been played since 1976. Her 54-hole score of 11-under 205 is the third-lowest score in tournament history. She was also recently named to the final fall watch list for the ANNIKA Award, presented by Stifel, which is given to the top female collegiate golfer at the end of the spring season.
Kuehn currently leads the Deacs with a 70.75 stroke average over 12 rounds of fall play. She has finished inside the top 25 in every event, starting the year with a T25 finish at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, then cracking the top five for a second-place finish at the Bryan National Collegiate which was followed by her first-place finish at the Tar Heel Invite. She closed the fall with a T12 finish at the Landfall Tradition last weekend.
The Deacs have finished inside the top five as a team in every fall event, winning two of them back-to-back, the Bryan National and the Tar Heel Invite. They finished third at the ANNIKA to open the fall slate and fourth at the Landfall Tradition to close the fall slate. Both events were double-digit win margins for Wake Forest. The Deacs will open their spring season in Orlando, Florida February 6-8 at the UCF Challenge.
