
Wake Forest ACC Play at No. 18 Georgia Tech Sunday

The Demon Deacons will look to capture its second consecutive win in Atlanta after defeating the Yellowjackets, 61-52, last season.
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wake Forest women's basketball team is set to begin Atlantic Coast Conference play Sunday at No. 18 Georgia Tech inside of McCamish Pavilion.
The Demon Deacons (10-1, 0-0 ACC) are coming off their largest win of the season to cap off non-conference play. The Deacs 10-1 start to the season is the best in the Jen Hoover era and the best since the 2008-09 season. Wake Forest has been led by sophomore guard Jewel Spear who currently leads the ACC in scoring with 22.5 points per game. Wednesday's victory over South Carolina State marked the fourth 90-plus point game of the season for the Demon Deacons, the first season to do so since 2005-06.
The Yellowjackets (8-2, 0-0) are the first ranked team that the Deacs will play this season. Georgia Tech, who currently sits No. 18 in the latest AP Poll, entered the top-25 after defeating No. 3 UCONN last week. The Jackets are led by All-ACC returner Lorela Cubaj who nearly averages a double-double at 8.5 points per game and 12.5 rebounds per game.
Tipoff for Sunday night's game against the Yellowjackets is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (ET) in McCamish Pavilion. The game can also be seen on ACC Network.

HOLDING DOWN OPPONENTS
The Demon Deacons have held all but one opponent to under 40 percent shooting from the field and all but two under 35 percent shooting from behind the arc.
The Deacs rank nationally in multiple defensive categories including No. 13 in three-point field goal defense, allowing opponents to shoot just 22.7 percent from range. This also ranks first among all ACC schools through this point in the season.
Additionally, the Deacs scoring defense is currently 25th in the country, allowing just 53.3 points per game as just four of the 11 Demon Deacon opponents has scored more than 50 points this season.

DOUBLE-DOUBLING THE COMPETITION
For the first time in the Hoover era, three Demon Deacons finished a game with a double-double, coming against South Carolina State.
Jewel Spear ended the SC State game with a game-high 25 points while also pulling down 10 rebounds. Alyssa Andrews was right behind her in the score column with 19 points and 11 boards. Raegyn Conley pulled down a game-best 12 rebounds while also contributing 13 points.

- The Demon Deacons reached the 90-plus mark for the fourth time this season, making it the first time since the 2005-06 season that the Deacs have reached the mark four times in the same year. The 40 points given up were the fewest since Feb. 28, 2018 when Wake Forest limited Pitt to just 38 points. SC State managed to shoot just 17.4 percent.
- The Deacs were led by a trio of first collegiate double-double performances from Jewel Spear, Alyssa Andrews and Raegyn Conley. The trio combined for 57 points and 33 rebounds.
