No. 13 Wake Forest extends its Atlantic Coast Conference winning streak to 22 matches with a 6-1 victory over Notre Dame to start conference play.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 13 Wake Forest men's tennis team continued their winning ways at home Friday against Notre Dame and The Citadel.
The Demon Deacons (7-2, 1-0 ACC) moved past Notre Dame (5-5, 0-1 ACC) early in the day with a convincing, 6-1 win. The win moved the Deacs ACC winning streak to 22 games.
The Demon Deacons sustained their command into the second match vs The Citadel (1-4), winning all matches in straight-sets for a 7-0 win.
Wake Forest is now 66-1 in home matches since the start of the 2016-17 season.
Quotable:
"It feels good. Notre Dame is a really good team but everyone in the ACC is tough. We always think of the ACC as the best conference in the country and I think it's the deepest. You have to come out and be ready to play every match and the guys did a great job of that today. We've worked really hard the last couple weeks and it paid off in our dubs and we got some really good performances in singles. It was good to get off to a 1-0 start." - Coach Bresky
