WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 13 Wake Forest men's tennis team continued its strong play at home with wins over Virginia Tech and North Carolina Wesleyan Friday evening at Wake Forest Tennis Center.
After securing the doubles point, the Demon Deacons (10-2, 3-0 ACC) won four of the six singles matches versus Virginia Tech (5-3, 1-1 ACC) to claim a 5-2 victory. The win moved the Deacs ACC winning streak to 24 matches.
The Demon Deacons kept the momentum going in the evening contest versus North Carolina Wesleyan (0-2), securing a win in sweeping fashion, 7-0.
Wake Forest is now 70-1 in home matches since the start of the 2016-17 season.
Quotable:
"It was another good day. Virginia Tech, like all ACC Teams, is a good team and they pushed us really hard, but we have some guys playing some really good tennis. It was good to squeak out that doubles point against them. I feel like we are getting better and better. I am looking forward to Sunday to see if we can get outdoors for the first time this season.
The second match of the day was very nice. A lot of guys had the opportunity to play that do not usually get to play. Jaun got his first official college win and Tacchi got his second college win. Those guys are getting better and better and are working really hard. It was good to give them that opportunity. Hopefully, it pays off down the road." - Coach Bresky
