Deacs Closes ACC Weekend Against Virginia

The No. 13 Wake Forest men’s tennis team will look to extend its 24-match ACC unbeaten streak on Sunday against Virginia.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 13 Wake Forest men's tennis team closes Atlantic Coast Conference weekend on Sunday, facing No. 4 Virginia and non-conference foe Davidson.
The Demon Deacons (10-2, 3-0 ACC) go into the match with a 24-match unbeaten streak in conference play and are the back-to-back defending ACC Champions. Wake Forest and Virginia (8-2, 2-0 ACC) have met in the last five ACC Championship Match matches and have combined to win every ACC Championship since 2007.
First serve against the Cavaliers is set for 1 p.m. ET while the Deacs finish the day against the Wildcats (2-4) at 4:30 p.m. ET.
Since the start of the 2016-17 season, Wake Forest has a 70-1 record in home matches. This includes a perfect 37-0 record over the past three seasons. The only loss at home came against Florida (4-3) during the 2017-18 season.
FAN INFORMATION:
Wake Forest will start to welcome back a limited number of fans to outdoor tennis matches, beginning with student-athlete families and Wake Forest students. Students can register for seats through the Screamin' Demon Rewards app. Additional limited tickets will be given out on a first come, first serve basis at the outdoor courts beginning 60 minutes before a match starts. Masks will be mandatory along with all other social distancing and safety requirements under Wake Forest, Forsyth County and State of North Carolina regulations as we uphold the Show Humanitate standard of our University.

LAST TIME
After a pair of victories over Virginia Tech and North Carolina Wesleyan on Thursday, the Demon Deacons extended their winning streak to eight consecutive matches, remained a perfect 10-0 in home matches this season and improved to 3-0 in ACC play.
- No. 92 Rrezart Cungu scored a huge win and clinched the match for Wake Forest. The Deacs went on to win 5-2 despite the tough fight from Virginia Tech. Melios Efstathiou and No. 107 Taha Baadi also picked up straight-set singles wins to help claim the Deacon win.
NEXT UP
Before continuing their ACC schedule, the Demon Deacons are set to host No. 2 Baylor and North Carolina Wesleyan for a pair of non-conference matches on Thursday.
The first serve against the Bears is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Wake Forest Tennis Center while the match against the Battling Bishops is set for 6:30 p.m.
