Demon Deacons Ready to Host Elon Sunday

Wake Forest looks to build off its 2OT win at NC State last week.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest soccer team returns home for the first time this spring, hosting Elon on Sunday. Kickoff between the Demon Deacons and Phoenix is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Spry Stadium.

FAN INFORMATION
Spry Stadium will host a limited number of student-athlete families and Wake Forest students inside Spry Stadium and on Walt Chyzowych Alumni Hill for Saturday's match. Parking is available in the public lots across the street from Walt Chyzowych Alumni Hill, and attendees will enter from the Polo Road spectator entrance.

Approved face coverings will be mandatory along with all other social distancing and safety requirements under Wake Forest, Forsyth County and State of North Carolina regulations as we uphold the Show Humanitate standard of our University.

WAKE FOREST STUDENTS
Wake Forest students will receive priority and free admission for the newly available attendance space through the Screamin' Demon Rewards and lottery programs that were introduced last fall. Students interested in attending soccer games in-person should enter the lottery through the Screamin' Demon Rewards app, beginning 48-hours prior to each game. Students will enter from the south gate main entrance to the stadium from campus.
 
LAST TIME OUT 
  • Ryanne Brown scored the game-winner in the second overtime, to help Wake Forest pick up a road win over NC State, 1-0, at Dail Soccer Complex.
  • The result marked the first time since Sept. 5, 2019 that NC State had suffered a loss at home, and it snapped a 12-game streak of defending its home turf.
  • With three saves, Kaitlyn Parks earned her first clean sheet of the spring season and was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career.
  • The Demon Deacons (4-6-1, 3-4-1 ACC) secured their 18th win all-time against NC State (4-1-1, 0-0-0 ACC) and clinched their first overtime win since Oct. 24, 2019 versus Pitt.
SERIES HISTORY
  • Sunday's match will be the 3rd meeting between Wake Forest and Elon. The Deacs own a 2-0 record against the Phoenix.
  • Last time out, The Wake Forest women's soccer team was victorious on the road against Elon, shutting out the Phoenix 5-0.
  • The Demon Deacons dominated the field for the entire game, with two goals coming in the first half and the three in the second. Alena Thom led Wake's scoring efforts with two goals. Katie Johnson, Katherine Winstead and Gabi Lieb each contributed to the shutout as well.
 SCOUTING ELON
  • Elon currently holds a 2-2 (1-1 CAA) record on the season.
  • The Phoenix fell to South Carolina at Rudd Field on Thursday, March 25, 3-0.
  • Katie Lowe, Kayla Hodges and McKenna Dalfonso played the entire match to lead the team in minutes played.
  • Elon is led by third-year head coach Neil Payne.
UP NEXT
  • The Deacs will hit the road again to face the Georgia Bulldogs next Saturday. The match is set for 11 a.m.
