Wake Forest Set to Take on No. 1 North Carolina

The No. 32 Wake Forest women’s tennis team travels to No. 1 North Carolina as the first part of the Big Four Weekend double.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 32 Wake Forest women's tennis team will make the short trip over to Chapel Hill to take on No. 1 North Carolina on Thursday afternoon.
The first serve is set for 3 p.m. ET against the Tar Heels (19-0, 9-0 ACC) at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Over the last two seasons, North Carolina is a combined 37-0. In the latest ITA singles rankings, the Tar Heels have seven ranked singles players while also having seven ranked doubles teams.
A win for the Demon Deacons (9-8, 5-5 ACC) on Thursday would mark the Deacs first win over North Carolina since 2007 and the first on the road since 2004.
Last season, the Demon Deacons were the lone team to take the doubles point off the Tar Heels with victories from Carolyn Campana and Chandler Carter over No. 15 Jones and Sanford, 6-3, and Saby Nihalani and Anna Brylin closed out the No. 3 doubles match, 6-4.

LAST TIME
Despite being without two of their three ranked singles players, the No. 26 Demon Deacons battled the No. 40 Monarchs closely throughout Sunday afternoon before falling, 4-1.
- In her first match in the No. 4 spot this season, Casie Wooten grabbed a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set win, marking the fourth in the last five singles matches for the freshman from Torrance, Calif.

The Deacs are back on the road, traveling to No. 8 Duke Saturday for another Big 4 match.
