Four Demon Deacons Garner All-ACC Accolades

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Four Demon Deacons were selected to the 2020-21 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey First and Second Team, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Meike Lanckohr led the way with First Team honors, while Laia Vancells, Nat Friedman and Grace Delmotte all earned spots on the Second Team.
The quartet reeled in their first career conference honors for their major contributions throughout the 2020-21 season that saw the No. 11 Deacs finish with an overall record of 6-10, highlighted by a 3-2 conference mark. The team rose to No. 9 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll on April 6, its highest ranking since 2016.
For their successful spring, the Deacs will travel to Chapel Hill to square off with North Carolina in the ACC's Automatic Qualifier Game on Friday, April 23, with the winner punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament as the conference's automatic bid.

Meike Lanckohr (First Team)
- Appeared and started in 15 games
- Tied for a team-high 11 points, netting four goals and dishing out a trio of assists
- Notched a season-high tying three points in Wake Forest's 4-1 win at Duke, scoring one goal and assisting on a score
- Found back of the net in the fall versus Syracuse (Oct. 18, 2020), Duke (Oct. 23, 2020) and Boston College (Nov. 1, 2021)
Laia Vancells (Second Team)
- Appeared in all 16 games, starting in 15-straight contests
- Combined for five points, scoring one goal and recording three assists
- Scored the game-winning goal at Virginia on Sept. 26, 2020
- Dished out assists in three Wake Forest wins against Duke (Oct. 23, 2020), Boston College (Nov. 1, 2020) and Virginia (March 27, 2021)
- Finished the regular season with a .636 shot-on goal percentage
Nat Friedman (Second Team)
- Appeared and started in all 16 games
- Finished with a team-high tying 11 points, tying for a team-best five goals and one assist
- Found the back of the net against North Carolina (Sept. 20, 2020), Syracuse (Oct. 18, 2020), Boston College (Nov. 1, 2020), Boston College (March 6, 2021) and Duke (March 13, 2021), three of which were game winners.
- Recorded a season-high three points with a goal and assist in Wake Forest's 4-1 victory over Duke (March 19, 2021)
- Took a team-high 28 shots, including 15 on goal for .556 shot on-goal percentage
Grace Delmotte (Second Team)
- Appeared in all 16 games, starting in 15-straight contests
- Tallied 11 points, tying for a team-high with five goals and one assist
- Scored a career-high two goals for a career-high four points in Wake Forest's 6-2 win over Boston College on Nov. 1, 2020
- Added goals in three Demon Deacon wins against Virginia (Sept. 26, 2020), Duke (Oct. 23, 2020) and Virginia (March 27, 2021)
- Attempted three shots on goal in two separate games
