Wake Forest senior Emilia Migliaccio recorded the second-lowest score on Saturday with a 70 (-2) to work herself into a two-person playoff for the title.
AUGUSTA, Ga. - After entering the day in a tie for 11th and four strokes off the lead, Wake Forest women's golfer Emilia Migliaccio finished tied for the lead after the conclusion of 54 holes at the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA).
In the first playoff hole on the historic No. 18, Migliaccio fell, taking second place in the second edition of the ANWA. Her final round scorecard included just two bogeys and five birdies to finish with a 54-hole score of 217, one-over-par for the event.
"It was so fun, it was so special," Migliaccio said. "That's all I wanted to do. I really wanted to enjoy this moment with my mom. This is probably one of the last times she's going to caddie for me and it was just a joy to be out there with her."
Migliaccio entered the final round in a tie for 11th and was four strokes off the lead. She finished with her best score of the week, carding a final-round 70 at Augusta National. Additionally, it was the second lowest score on the course on Saturday.
Although, she was still four strokes back when she completed her last 18 holes. With five groups still out on the course, including three players ahead of her on the leaderboard, Migliaccio waited over an hour after her round to find out she would be in a playoff with Japan's Tsubasa Kajitani.
Despite falling in the playoff, it still fulfilled a lifelong dream of playing on the hallowed ground of Augusta National Golf Course.
"Even watching the Masters, it's just going to be so special just knowing I played a competitive round. Thank you to Augusta National for really promoting women's golf in the best way you can. It's such a dream for all of us to be out here."
