GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's golf program has three members selected to the 2021 All-ACC Team, per the league's announcement today.
Wake Forest is the only school in the Atlantic Coast Conference to have at least three players named to both the men's and women's All-ACC teams. Lauren Walsh, Rachel Kuehn and Siyun Liu were named to the women's All-ACC team last week.
Junior Alex Fitzpatrick, sophomore Mark Power and freshman Michael Brennan have earned All-ACC honors for the 2021 season. The Demon Deacons are coming off a fifth-place finish at the ACC Championships in Alpharetta, Georgia two weeks ago. Fitzpatrick and Power wrapped play at the 48th annual Walker Cup this past weekend at the Seminole Golf Club in Florida.
Fitzpatrick leads the team with a 70.27 stroke average, followed by Brennan with a 70.92 and Power with a 71.76. Fitzpatrick took home his first collegiate individual title this spring at the Valspar Collegiate. The win earned him an exemption into the PGA Valspar Championship next year. He tallied two more top five finishes and two other top 20 finishes. He finished in the top 20 in all five of his starts this spring.
Brennan led the Deacs this spring with two individual wins, becoming the first freshman to win back-to-back events in program history. He also recorded two more top five finishes and three more top 25 finishes in eight events.
Power has recorded five top-16 finishes in seven events this spring. His best came in the season opener Seminole Invitational in January where he finished third with a season-best score of seven-under 209.
Wake Forest is currently ranked No. 6 in the latest GolfStat ranking and was selected as the No. 1 seed at the Washington Regional last Wednesday. NCAA Regionals will be May 17-19 in Cle Elum, Washington.
