Wake Forest Holds Strong Presence at 2021 Arnold Palmer Cup
6/10/2021 10:31:00 AM | Men's Golf, Women's Golf
Wake Forest is the only school in the country to have multiple players on both the United States team and the international team.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest golf programs will have heavy representation at the 2021 Arnold Palmer Cup at Rich Harvest Farms June 11-13.
Wake Forest is the only school in the country to have multiple players on both the United States team and the international team.
Additionally, the Deacs have the most representatives of all schools with five individuals. Between the men's and women's programs, there will be four players (five were invited) and one coach.
On the men's side, both Mark Power and Alex Fitzpatrick were selected to Team International, but only Fitzpatrick will be playing this weekend.
On the women's side, head coach Kim Lewellen was named Coach of Team USA after being named the 2020 WGCA National Coach of the Year. Wake Forest's Emilia Migliaccio and Rachel Kuehn will play for the red, white and blue alongside Lewellen. Lauren Walsh will be competing for Team International alongside Fitzpatrick.
Migliaccio, Kuehn, Fitzpatrick and Power all competed in the 2020 Arnold Palmer Cup, which was played in December at Palmer's Bay Hill Club after being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Migliaccio is the only American player in the history of the event to be selected to four Arnold Palmer Cup teams. In 2020, she became just the second American to be selected to three Arnold Palmer Cup teams. She has competed every year since becoming eligible as a collegiate player and women were introduced into the event (2018).
Both the Wake Forest men's and women's golf teams are coming off NCAA Championship appearances in May. Both squads made the cut for the top 15 teams and competed in the final round of stroke play and finished the season ranked inside the top 10 of the GolfStat rankings. Wake Forest is one of just four teams in the nation to have both their men's and women's programs finish inside the top 10 this year.

About Arnold Palmer Cup
The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, Fla., in 1997. The event is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men's and women's university/college golfers matching the United States against a team of International players. The Arnold Palmer Cup has been played at some of the world's greatest courses including The Old Course, The Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Baltusrol, The Honors Course, and Cherry Hills. The 2018 matches at Evian Resort Golf Club became the only major tournament which features men and women playing side-by-side as partners.
Since its inception, over 100 former Arnold Palmer Cup alumni have gone on to earn cards on either the PGA Tour, European Tour or LPGA, 29 have represented Europe or the USA in the Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup, and more than 60 have claimed over 250 victories on the PGA or European Tours, including three major championships in 2020. The United States leads the series 12-11-1.
The Arnold Palmer Cup is supported by Arnie's Army Charitable Foundation. The Arnold Palmer Cup provides a platform for perpetuating Arnold Palmer's commitment to youth development and the growth of amateur/collegiate golf. For more information, please visit ArnoldPalmerCup.com
