
Demon Deacons Open Up ACC Play Against No.18 Georgia Tech

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest begins conference play Friday night against No.18 Georgia Tech at 7 p.m. in Varsity Arena in Reynolds Gymnasium.
The Demon Deacons are currently on a six-match win streak (9-2) as they recently topped Davidson last Friday, 3-0, and are 2-0 at home. In their win streak, the Deacs have swept opponents in four of the six matches while winning the other two contests, 3-1.
Statistically, Wake Forest leads the league in service aces (74 in 37 sets), averaging 2.00 per set. They are also ranked fifth in kills, totaling 515 in 37 sets (13.92 per set). The Deacs rank fifth in opponent hitting percentage, with opponents hitting only .159 against Wake Forest while the Deacs average 2.32 blocks and 13.76 digs per set.
Redshirt senior setter, Andrea Fuentes continues to pace the Wake Forest offense as she is currently averaging 11.46 assists per set, which leads the ACC and is fifth in the country. Along with her strong play setting up the offense, Fuentes has also been a solid source of point-scoring herself, ranking third in the ACC with 19 service aces in 37 sets (.51 per set). Freshman libero Kalani Whillock continues to have a strong rookie season for the Deacs as she is ranked in the top five in multiple defensive categories, including being fifth in digs (163) and tied for first in digs per set at 4.41. Sophomore Olivia Franke is top 10 in the conference with a .361 hitting percentage.

The Deacs will face No.18 Georgia Tech at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Reynolds Gym. The match will stream live on ACC Network Extra.

Georgia Tech leads the all-time series 37-12 and has won two of the past three matches.

Admission into Varsity Arena in Reynolds Gymnasium is free for all Wake Forest students and volleyball spectators. In accordance with city and state regulations, masks are required at all times while indoors on the Wake Forest University campus.

The Wake Forest volleyball team swept the Davidson Wildcats, 3-0, in their non-conference finale last Friday night in Reynolds Gym.
The Deacs were led by Kamryn Malloy's and Olivia Franke's 10 and nine kills that were brought together with Andrea Fuentes' 27 assists on the night. Fuentes and Peyton Suess each registered three service aces. Suess and Kalani Whillock led the team with 12 and 14 digs, respectively. Middle blocker Delaney McSweeney led the team on the net with four blocks.
