Demon Deacons Look for Fourth-Straight Win against Boston College

1/23/2022 3:30:00 PM | Men's Basketball

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team is back in action on Monday evening for their re-scheduled matchup with Boston College inside Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The Demon Deacons (16-4, 6-3) come into Monday's game winners of five of their past six games and on a three-game winning streak following their 98-76 victory over North Carolina on Saturday and road victories at Virginia (63-55) and Georgia Tech (80-64) last week.

Jake LaRavia had a highlight-reel performance against the Tar Heels, as the junior forward finished with a career-high 31-point, 10-rebound double-double - only the fourth 30-point, 10-rebound output against North Carolina over the past decade.

Alondes Williams also had a dominant outing, with 23 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three blocks on Saturday night. The Milwaukee native continues to be the only player in the country averaging at least 20 points (20.4), 5.0 rebounds (6.8), and 5.0 assists (5.1).

As the current ACC leader in both points per game and assists per game, Williams is on track to be the first player in the ACC to lead both categories for a season since they started tracking assists in 1973.

Together, the Williams/LaRavia duo is averaging a combined 36.0 points per game this season and is the top scoring tandem in the ACC.

Through nine ACC games, the Demon Deacons lead the conference in both team (0.494) and opponent field goal percentage (0.394). Wake Forest has held six of its first nine ACC opponents to below 40 percent shooting.

The Eagles (9-8, 3-4) are coming off an 68-63 home victory against Virginia Tech on Saturday and are led by first-year head coach Earl Grant. Boston College ranks third in the conference with an average of 11.4 offensive rebounds per game against ACC opponents.

A win over Boston College on Monday would give the Deacs their first four-game ACC regular season winning streak since 2010 (Miami Feb. 2, at Virginia Feb. 6, Boston College Feb. 9, Georgia Tech Feb. 13).

Tipoff inside the Joel is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET and the game will air live on ACC Network.

Fans can follow along via the Demon Deacons Twitter and Instagram accounts (@WakeMBB).
