Deacs Tie Program Record; Seven Land on All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Seven Demon Deacons were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Academic Team, announced by the league on Monday morning. 

Grace Delmotte, Maggie Dickman, Elisha Evans, Nat Friedman, Meike Lanckohr, Hannah Maxwell and Laia Vancells all garnered the prestigious honor thanks to a combination of academic and athletic achievements during the 2021 campaign, tying a program record set in 2005. 

Additionally, this marks the second-straight year Delmotte, Friedman, Lanckohr, Maxwell and Vancells landed on the list, while Dickman and Evans garnered their first career conference academic honor. 

Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Demon Deacons on the All-ACC Academic Team

Grace Delmotte, Wake Forest, So., Undeclared

  • Appeared in 17 games and recorded 677 total minutes

  • Played all 60 minutes on four separate occasions

  • Recorded a season-high three shots on goal against Louisville (10/1)

  • Tallied five total assists on the season with two assists coming at Iowa (8/27)

Maggie Dickman, Wake Forest, Jr., Communications

  • Played in all 17 matches, making 12 starts

  • Scored a career-high 14 points (third on team) with a career-high seven goals (tied for second on team)

  • Netted a career-best two goals on road against Richmond (Oct. 24)

  • Netted a score in ACC Tournament against North Carolina (Nov. 4)

  • Found back of net in back-to-back road matches at Louisville (Oct. 1) and Miami (Oct. 3)

  • Score against Miami gave the Deacs a one-goal lead, clinching Wake Forest's fifth win of season

  • Tallied first goal of season in 6-2 win versus James Madison

  • Took 17 shots, including 13 on goal (76.5 percent).

Elisha Evans, Wake Forest, Gr., Master's in Management

  • Appeared in 17 games and played a total of 861 minutes

  • Recorded four multi-point games during the season

  • Netted a trio of goals and added a career-high five assists during the season

Nat Friedman, Wake Forest, Jr., Business & Enterprise

  • Appeared and started in all 17 matches this season

  • Received Second Team NFHCA All-Region and All-ACC honors

  • Dished out a career-high eight assists, which was tied for the ACC lead at the end of the regular season

  • Assisted on a Wake Forest goal in seven matches, highlighted by a career-best two assists against App State (Sept. 4)

  • Tallied an assist in back-to-back wins over top-25 opponents in No. 17 Duke and No. 21 UMass 

  • Notched goals against James Madison (Sept. 12) and VCU (Oct. 22)

  • Attempted a career-high 44 shots, with 19 being on goal (.432 percent)

Meike Lanckohr, Wake Forest, Jr., Economics

  • Appeared in 13 matches, making 12 starts

  • Earned NFHCA Second Team All-American honors

  • Also Received First Team NFHCA All-Region and All-ACC honors

  • Tallied a team-best and career-high 20 points with a career-high nine goals and two assists

  • Finished tied for second in the ACC in goals, while ranking third in points per game (1.54) 

  • Notched a season-high tying four points twice with a career-high tying two goals against Iowa (Aug. 27) and Duke (Sept. 17)

  • Found the back of the net in three-straight games from Sept. 17-24

  • Named ACC Offensive Player of the Week after leading Wake Forest's offensive attack with a trio of goals in back-to-back wins over top-25 opponents in No. 17 Duke and No. 21 UMass

  • Attempted a career-high 11 shots against Ohio State (Sept. 10) 

  • Fired .541 percent of her 37 shots on goal (20)

Hannah Maxwell, Wake Forest, Jr., Health & Exercise Science

  • Made 16 appearances, including four starts

  • Finished second on squad with a career-high 16 points, netting a career-best seven goals (tied for second) and a pair of assists

  • Scored a hat trick of goals in matches against App State (Sept. 4) and Davidson (Oct. 17) to set a new career best

  • Added seventh goal of campaign on road at Syracuse (Oct. 8)

  • Dished out an assist in back-to-back matches against Ohio State (Sept. 10) and James Madison (Sept. 12)

  • Took a total of 15 shots, with all of them coming on goal.

Laia Vancells, Wake Forest, Sr., Biochemistry & French

  • Appeared in 17 matches, making 14 starts

  • Dished out an assist on one of Wake Forest's two goals at VCU

  • Attempted 16 shots, including 12 on goal (.750 percent)

  • Fired a trio of shots at VCU and at Louisville
