
Wake Forest Travels to Florida for ACC Action

The second of a two-week road stretch is up next on the Demon Deacons’ radar.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest volleyball (12-7, 4-4) will again pack its bags this weekend for a fourth out-of-state trip of the season. The Demon Deacons head South to the state of Florida for Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) matchups at Miami (Oct. 21) and Florida State (Oct. 23).
Both matches will air on ACC Network Extra.
Recently, Wake Forest spent time near the Midwest region for visits to Notre Dame (Oct. 14) and No. 2 Louisville (Oct. 16).
The Deacs have remained a top-three conference team in digs-per-set throughout the fall, currently ranked second among all institutions (14.97).

Wake Forest found itself in another toe-to-toe conference battle on Friday evening (Oct. 14), visiting Notre Dame. Taking the Fighting Irish to five sets, the Demon Deacons ultimately fell just short in the evening's conclusion (25-17, 23-25, 21-25, 25-14, 13-15).
Olivia Franke tied her career-high for the second time this year, finishing with 12 kills on a .667 attacking percentage. The junior middle blocker additionally assisted on seven blocks.
Paige Crawford tallied her fourth double-double in the last five matches: a team-high 13 kills, along with 10 digs.
Playing back in her home state of Indiana, Olivia Murphy provided a spark as a reserve, totaling eight kills. Emmy Ogogor chipped in eight kills of her own, along with seven blocks.
Setters Rian Baker and Andrea Fuentes collected 22 and 15 assists, respectively. Baker also reached a new season high of four service aces. Fuentes added 13 digs for her fifth double-double of the year.
Emma Farrell led Wake Forest's defense with 18 digs. Peyton Suess posted nine digs and seven blocks.
Sunday, Oct. 16 – Louisville 3, Wake Forest 1
Playing in front of a sold-out audience and facing its highest ranked opponent of the fall, Wake Forest took on the challenge headstrong against No. 2 Louisville on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 16). With their backs against the wall, the Demon Deacons impressively captured a third-set win before ultimately falling in four frames (16-25, 15-25, 28-26, 20-25).
Olivia Franke continued to have a standout weekend, reaching a new personal milestone in the process. In set three, the junior middle blocker made a rejection at the net for the 200th block of her collegiate career. Franke finished the day with 10 kills (.667 attacking percentage) and five blocks.
Paige Crawford led Wake Forest with 16 kills, adding seven digs. Peyton Suess chipped in 10 kills.
Defensively, Emma Farrell became a bright spot as the match progressed, recording a team-best 20 digs.
Rian Baker totaled 27 assists and six digs. Andrea Fuentes handed out 16 assists.
Wake Forest tied with Louisville in total blocks (10).
Back-to-Back
Having continued her stellar freshman campaign with the Wake Forest volleyball squad, Paige Crawford landed her second-straight ACC Freshman of the Week nod on Monday (Oct. 17), announced by the conference office.
The recognition came a week after Crawford earned her first career ACC Freshman of the Week honor on Oct. 10. She is the first Demon Deacon to notch back-to-back weekly awards in the head coach Randi Smart era. Additionally, Wake Forest's three total weekly freshman selections are the most in a single season in program history thus far.
Crawford led the team in kills during contests against Notre Dame (13) and No. 2 Louisville (16). The outside hitter's 10 digs versus the Fighting Irish gave her a fourth double-double in the last six matches. For the weekend, she hit over 31% from the floor and collected 17 digs.
Crawford remains the only true freshman in the ACC to stand as a top-10 individual in kills-per-set (3.29). Additionally, she moved to the top of the Wake Forest leaderboard in kills less than two weeks ago (194).
Eyes (Still) on Emma
Shining as the ACC's digs-per-set leader (4.70) since week two of the season, Emma Farrell once again turned heads this past weekend. The Norcross, Georgia native totaled 38 digs in the contests versus Notre Dame and No. 2 Louisville. Farrell's performance against the nationally-ranked Cardinals was the seventh time this year that the first-year had recorded 20 or more digs while also being her highest total versus a conference opponent.

Scouting the Opposition
Miami stands at 11-8 overall, holding a 4-4 record against ACC foes, likewise to Wake Forest. Savannah Vach leads the conference in assists (753) and assists-per-set (10.32). Angela Grieve is the Hurricanes' leader in kills (255) while Abby Casiano (.364 attacking percentage) and Janice Leao (.348 attacking percentage) are efficient hitters who rank as top-10 individuals in that category. Casiano and Leao also pace Miami in blocks with 49 and 48.5, respectively. Defensive specialist Yaidaliz Rosado has collected 197 digs. Miami has outperformed its opponents in kills, assists, digs, service aces, and blocks.
Now resting at No. 37 in the latest NCAA RPI standings, Florida State holds a 12-7 overall clip and plays Virginia Tech on Friday (Oct. 21). The Seminoles are 8-1 at home this year. In conference play, the team has gone 4-4 thus far. Audrey Koenig is a go-to hitter and leads the squad in kills (213). She, Andjelija Draskovic, and Emery Dupes all have registered over 140 digs apiece – the latter leads Florida State with 176. Outside hitter Audrey Rothman was named ACC Freshman of the Week back on Aug. 29. Similarly to Miami, the Seminoles hold an advantage over their opponents in kills, assists, digs, service aces, and blocks.
