WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf program and coaches Kim Lewellen and Ryan Potter have announced the additions of Macy Pate and Brooke Rivers to the squad beginning in the fall of 2023.
"We are extremely excited about our 2023 class," said coach Lewellen. "Both Macy and Brooke come in with outstanding resumes, but what sets them apart is their professionalism and how they approach the game at such an early stage in their careers. They're coming in with an established work ethic in all areas of our sport: the golf course, the gym, preparation before events, as well as being outstanding students. We have no doubt they will get here and make an immediate impact on our established program."
Macy Pate | Ronald Wilson Reagan High School | Winston-Salem, N.C.
A North Carolina native, Pate grew up a Wake Forest fan. Her parents are Martha and Chris Pate and she has two older siblings, a sister Eli and a brother Connor.
Pate earned national recognition last fall when she shot a record-breaking 57 at Bermuda Run West Country Club in the Central Piedmont 4-A Conference Championship, where she earned the individual title. Pate was also recognized by USA Today as the best female high school golfer in the state of North Carolina prior to shooting the record-low 57. She also made the Academic Honor Roll every year in high school. She plans to major in something related to Business Marketing and Communications.

Why Wake?
"I have been a fan of Wake Forest University ever since I was a small child. Wake Forest and the history that surrounds the university have always intrigued me. Wake Forest has a culture of excellence and I feel strongly that I will fit in well in the high-caliber society that surrounds Wake Forest. My great-grandfather and my grandfather both attended and played football at Wake Forest and I have always wanted to follow in their footsteps at such a great place. Wake Forest has always felt like home to me and I wouldn't want to spend 4 years of college anywhere else."
Brooke Rivers | Brampton, Ontario, Canada
A native of Turks and Caicos, Rivers grew up in Ontario, Canada. Her parents are Tammy Glugosh and Gregg Rivers. She has a younger brother, Kurt. Along with climbing the ranks of amateur golf, Rivers also played hockey, softball and soccer.

Why Wake?
"Wake Forest has amazing facilities and a top tier golf program. I know I can go there and become a better golfer. Old Town Club is a great home course to have right next to campus. Their business school has one of the best programs that I will be able to learn so much that can help me in my personal development off the golf course. I am very excited to be a Demon Deacon!"
