Deacs Fall on the Road at No. 13 South Carolina, 5-2

COLUMBIA, SC – The No. 6 Wake Forest men's tennis team dropped a road tilt at 13-ranked South Carolina Thursday night, 5-2.
The Gamecocks claimed a 1-0 advantage after winning the doubles point, before winning three first-set en route to taking the match. The Deacs (13-2), dropped doubles matches on courts one and three, ahead of singles action. In singles, South Carolina (9-0) won on courts two and three, before clinching the match on court four.
Wake Forest senior No. 51 Melios Efstathiou fell to No. 97 Connor Thomson, 6-4, 6-3 and Deacs senior No. 71 Eduardo Nava was defeated by Toby Samuel, 7-6, 6-4. The clinch came on court four as Rrezart Cungu was bested by South Carolina's Raphael Lambling, 7-5, 6-3.
After the Gamecocks clinched, junior No. 118 Taha Baadi picked up a straight-set victory and No. 35 Filippo Moroni ended the night with two points for the Deacs.
UP NEXT
The Deacs will round out the weekend road trip at No. 1 Ohio State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
