Demon Deacons Return Home for Matchup against Notre Dame

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team will take on Notre Dame on Saturday, February 19 inside Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. .
 
The Demon Deacons (20-7, 10-6) are coming off a narrow 76-74 defeat at No. 9 Duke on Tuesday and currently sit at fifth place in the ACC standings.
 
Alondes Williams continued to fill the stat sheet on Tuesday, finishing with 18 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals on 7-of-13 shooting. Williams (140 assists) is currently tied with Cal Boyd (1987-88) for the 22nd most assists in a single season in program history.
 
Williams currently leads the ACC in both points and assists and is the only player in the country averaging at least 19.0 points (19.8), 6.0 rebounds (6.8) and 5.0 assists (5.2). The Milwaukee product has the opportunity to be the first player to finish the season leading the ACC in points and assists since the conference began tracking assists in 1973.
 
With Jake LaRavia's 19-point 10-rebound double-double against the Blue Devils, the Williams/LaRavia duo is averaging 34.4 points per game and 8.8 assists per game, making them the top scoring tandem in the ACC and the runner-up pair in assists just behind Virginia's Reece Beekman and Kihei Clark (8.9).
 
Through 16 ACC games, the Demon Deacons lead the conference in team field goal percentage (49.7) and are second in opponent field goal percentage (40.1). Wake Forest has held nine of its 16 ACC opponents to below 40 percent shooting and leads the conference with seven ACC victories by 15 points or more.
 
Additionally, the Demon Deacons rank third in conference play in fouls drawn (16.9), fourth in total rebounds per game (36.7), fourth in blocks per game (4.1) and second in assists per game (15.9).
 
The Fighting Irish (19-7, 12-3) are coming off a 99-95 overtime victory over Boston College on Wednesday and are second in the ACC standings. Notre Dame ranks third in the ACC in three-point percentage, at 38.0 percent during conference play.
 
Tipoff inside LJVM is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game will air live on Bally Sports South and other regional sports networks.

Several Deacs currently rank at the top of the conference leaderboards in several categories:
  • Jake LaRavia: 57.6 percent from the field ranks first, 3.7 assists per game ranks seventh.
  • Alondes Williams: 19.8 points per game and 5.2 assists per game each rank first, 53.2 percent from the field ranks fourth.
  • Daivien Williamson: 88.1 percent from the free throw line ranks fourth.
  • Isaiah Mucius: 58 made three-pointers ranks tied for eighth and 21st in program history.
  • Dallas Walton: 1.5 blocks per game ranks sixth.
