BROCKPORT, N.Y. - A program-record 20 Wake Forest field hockey student-athletes were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad, as announced by the organization on Tuesday morning.
Members of the National Academic Squad must achieve a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the current academic year, and be nominated by their NFHCA member coach.
83 percent of Wake Forest's 2021 squad received the prestigious accolade and ranked third in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Additionally, this marked Abby Carpenter and Laia Vancells' fourth-straight year on the list.
This national recognition comes on the heels of Wake Forest placing a program-high tying seven individuals on the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic All-ACC team on Jan. 24.
