COLUMBUS, Ga. - Wake Forest women's golfers Rachel Kuehn and Carolina Chacarra have been named to the Spring Watch List for the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel. The award is given annually to the top women's collegiate golfer.
After winning the Tar Heel Invite, Kuehn was named to the final Fall Watch List in October. Since then, she was tabbed ACC Women's Golfer of the month and won the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, breaking the tournament record with her 54-hole score of 10-under 203. The win also earned her an LPGA exemption into the JTBC Championship at Palos Verdes next month.
Chacarra won her first two collegiate tournaments back-to-back this spring and became the first Wake Forest women's golfer to win multiple events in her debut season since Stephanie Neill in 1991-92. To start the spring, Chacarra won the UCF Challenge in February with the lowest 54-hole score in relation to par in Wake Forest program history and tied for the second-lowest in NCAA history. Wake Forest took home the team title.
Chacarra and the Deacs closed out the month with another win, with Chacarra taking home the individual title and Wake Forest taking home the team title at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. Following both wins, Chacarra was named ACC women's golfer of the month.
Wake Forest is coming off a third place finish at the Liz Murphey Collegiate this past weekend where Chacarra and Kuehn each finished inside the top 10. Chacarra's T2 finish is her fourth top five finish of the year and Kuehn's T8 finish is her fifth top 10 of the year.
Kuehn and Chacarra lead the Deacs as the only two with stroke averages under 71, with Kuehn averaging a 70.14 and Chacarra 70.81. Both have two individual titles and four top five finishes on the year.
