The 2022 Demon Deacons now hold the program record for most games with 20 runs in a season and the most games with at least 20 runs against an ACC opponent in a season.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Behind another record-breaking performance at the plate, Wake Forest clinched their second ACC series of the season, defeating Boston College, 20-8, on Saturday afternoon at Eddie Pellagrini Diamond.
After using 15 runs on Friday night to win the series opener against the Eagles (11-16, 1-10 ACC), the Demon Deacons (21-6, 6-5 ACC) scored runs in seven innings for their fourth 20-run performance this season, setting a new program record.
Additionally, this year's squad is the only team in program history to score at least 20 runs in multiple ACC games in the same season.
The Deacs grabbed the game's momentum from the start, plating six runs on six hits as every Wake Forest batter made a plate appearance. The Deacs tallied three-straight hits to score four of their runs.
Wake Forest has now scored more than five runs in an inning 15 times this season, including in each of the last three games.
12 Wake Forest batters combined for 22 base hits, their third game with at least 20 hits, while nine Deacs drove in a run. Michael Turconi led the Deacs in both categories with two doubles and two singles as well as a career-high tying six RBIs.
Brock Wilken tallied three RBIs, increasing his series total to 10, with a two-run home run and an RBI-single. Wilken is now tied with Brendan Tinsman for the team lead with nine long flies.

Gabe Golob earned his second win of the season as the grad transfer tossed 1.2 innings in relief of Seth Keener.
Reed Mascolo went 3.1 innings on the hill, allowing one earned run with a season-high tying five strikeouts.
Brennen Oxford pitched two scoreless innings to cap off the game two victory, striking out a season-high three batters while allowing just one hit and one walk.
How It Happened
-
Wake Forest jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the top of the first with six hits as every Demon Deacon batter made a plate appearance. The Deacs tallied three-straight hits to score four of their runs.
-
Wilken was scored by an RBI-double from the right field line from Michael Turconi for Wake Forest's opening run.
-
Adam Cecere walked to put runners at first and second. Jake Reinisch scored the pair with an RBI-double on the first pitch he saw before advancing to third on the throw.
-
Pierce Bennett pushed a ball through the right side to score Reinisch before Danny Corona lasered a triple to deep right center.
-
Corona plated Wake Forest's sixth and final run on a wild pitch.
-
-
The Eagles got on the scoreboard with a leadoff home run. With a runner on first, Keener induced a lineout to Cecere in left before the right hander struck out a batter to end the inning.
-
Wilken launched his third home run of the series to increase the Demon Deacon lead to 8-1 after the top of the second. Nick Kurtz scored on Wilken's long fly as the freshman led off the inning with a double down the right line.
-
Boston College made it a four-run ballgame (8-4) after loading the bases with one out. A two-RBI double and a SAC fly plated the Eagles' runs before Gabe Golob induced a pop up to end the second inning.
-
Golob returned in the bottom of the third and pitched a scoreless inning, working around a base runner (hit by pitch) with one out with a ground out and fly out.
-
A trio of RBI-singles from Turconi, Brendan Tinsman and Bennett plated four and increased Wake Forest's lead to 12-4 after the top of the fourth.
-
The Deacs loaded the bases with no one out as Tommy Hawke tallied a leadoff single and stole second, Kurtz walked and Wilken singled to right field.
-
Turconi scored Hawke and Kurtz before Tinsman brought home Wilken.
-
With two outs and Turconi on third, Bennett tallied his second RBI-single of the game for the fourth run of the inning.
-
-
Boston College cut into Wake Forest's lead (12-6) with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
-
Jacob Grzebinski entered with two on and no one out. The left hander struckout the first batter he faced.
-
After the Eagles' pair of runs, Reed Mascolo took over with the bases loaded and punched out a Boston College batter to end the scoring threat.
-
-
The Demon Deacons pushed across a run in the top of the fifth with a single from Kurtz, a double from Turconi and a fielding error.
-
Turconi's double was the shortstop's third base hit of the game.
-
-
The Eagles responded with a run of their own off a Wake Forest throwing error in the bottom half of the inning.
-
Wake Forest opened the top of the sixth with four runs before an out as recorded, increasing their lead to 17-7.
-
The Deacs loaded the bases as Jake Reinisch opened the inning with a double and Bennett and Corona drew walks. An RBI-single from Hawke scored Reinisch for the opening run of the inning.
-
Kurtz picked up Wake Forest's third walk of the inning to score Reinisch from third.
-
Wilken tallied his 10th RBI of the series with a base hit to left field before Turconi posted a sacrifice fly to deep center field to score Hawke.
-
-
Mascolo punched out a Boston College batter for the opening out of the frame. A solo home run to center field cut Wake Forest's lead to nine (17-8). Mascolo responded with two more strikeouts to strand a pair of Boston College base runners.
-
The Deacs scored runs for the fourth-straight inning as Turconi plated Corona (walk) and Bennett (walk) with his second RBI-double of the game, increasing the Demon Deacon advantage to 19-8.
-
Mascolo kept Wake Forest's lead at 11 with a scoreless inning in the bottom of the eighth. The righthander struck out the first batter of the game before a pair of fielder's choices ended the inning.
-
Wake Forest went on a two-out rally in the top of the ninth with three-straight singles from Mark Black, James Broderick and Kyle Joye to push their lead to 20-8 following their last chance at the plate.
-
Brennen Oxford closed out the game in the ninth, tallying two strikeouts to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard and clinching the ACC series, 20-8.

Words from Walter
"It was a good six-run first inning. That was the difference in the game. We came out and grabbed the momentum in the first. We had four RBIs with two outs. Jake Reinisch's double scored two. Pierce Bennett's single scored one. Danny Corona's triple scored one more and that was the difference in the game. We grabbed the momentum early and didn't give it back.
"We didn't pitch as well as we wanted. We had 13 free passes today, which in most games will come back to bite you. Yesterday we kind of kicked it around a little. Today, we walked people. Hopefully tomorrow we can come out and play good, clean baseball. We've got Teddy McGraw on the mound. We've got a rested bullpen with Cam Minacci and Eric Adler, who haven't pitched yet. We'll get Crawford Wade back tomorrow. We'll get Derek Crum back tomorrow. We feel good about having nine innings worth of pitching tomorrow, so hopefully the offense can keep it rolling and we get a good start out of Teddy."
