SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Wake Forest baseball team lost, 21-3, on Saturday afternoon to No. 13 Notre Dame at Frank Eck Stadium.

Redshirt junior Brendan Tinsman got the Demon Deacons (28-11, 10-10 ACC) on the board with a solo home run to right field in the top of the second, marking his team-best 15th long fly of the season. This also extended Tinsman's hit streak to a team-best nine games.

Tinsman added a single in the top of the fourth, marking his 16th multi-hit performance of the season.

The Fighting Irish extended their lead (25-8, 10-7 ACC) with runs in the second, third and fourth innings before Seth Keener tossed a shutdown inning in the fifth with a pair of punchouts following a sacrifice fly from Chris Katz, his second RBI of the series, in the top of the frame.

Jake Reinisch extended his on-base streak to 38 games with a two-out walk in the top of the sixth. Reinisch scored from first in the inning as Pierce Bennett doubled for the second time of the game to shallow right field. Reinisch also registered a single to right field in the top of the eighth.

Josh Hartle made the ninth start of his freshman season and struck out five batters in three innings, tying for the second most punch outs by the left hander this season.

Seth Keener tossed two innings, fanning a trio of batters while allowing just one earned run.

Derek Crum, Eric Adler and Brennen Oxford tossed one inning a piece. Adler struck out three batters in the seventh, marking the third time in ACC play the righthander has fanned a trio of opponents.

Due to forecasted weather, the series finale has been pushed up to an 11 a.m. first pitch on Sunday and will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.

  • Notre Dame pushed across four runs in the bottom of the first on a three-run home run and an RBI-single.

    • Josh Hartle made his ninth start of the season. The lefthander struck out four batters in the frame.

  • Notre Dame increased their lead to 5-1 in the bottom half of the second with an RBI-groundout.

    • Hartle induced back-to-back groundouts to open the bottom of the third.

    • A fly out to Pierce Bennett in right field ended the inning.

  • Tinsman notched a two-out single to right field, his second base hit of the game, before a fielder's choice ended the top of the fourth.

  •  Notre Dame extended their lead to 12-1 with four runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth.

    • Keener forced all three outs in the inning with a strikeout, pop up and ground out.

  • The Deacs added a run on a sacrifice fly from Chris Katz that brought home Bennett.

Words from Walter
"We didn't make a couple plays early in the game that led to some big innings. In that four-run first, we had a chance with two outs and nobody on but we didn't make a block there and it ended up costing us. Then again in the third. Two outs and nobody on and we don't make a play on a ground ball then they single and homer and all the sudden we're down 8-1. It's hard in this league to come back from that kind of deficit. We pitched off toward the end of the game and it got away from us. That happens, but we have a rested and ready bullpen tomorrow. We've got Teddy McGraw on the mound. We'll come out ready to go."
