Wake Forest concludes a five-game road trip with back-to-back non-conference games on Tuesday and Wednesday.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest baseball team concludes a five-game road swing with back-to-back midweek matchups at High Point and Gardner-Webb. 

The Demon Deacons (28-12, 10-11 ACC) square off against the Panthers (14-27, 7-8 Big South) on Tuesday, April 26 at Williard Stadium in the first of a home-and-home series against the in-state opponent. 

Wake Forest will then head right back to the diamond to take on the Bulldogs (14-27, 5-10 Big South) on Wednesday, April 27 at John Henry Moss Stadium. 

Both games are set for a 6 p.m. first pitch and will be available on ESPN+ with a paid subscription. 

This season, the Demon Deacons are 18-1 in non-conference play, outscoring opponents 193-72 in those games.

Opponent & Series History
Wake Forest holds a 36-20 advantage in the all-time series against High Point. The first matchup between the triad opponents came in 1976.  In 2019, the Demon Deacons and Panthers split the season series. 

The Demon Deacons and Bulldogs have only faced off 12 times prior to this year's matchup as Wake Forest has won eight of those contests. In the lone game between the teams in 2019, the Deacs posted a 9-7 at David F. Couch Ballpark.

  • Head coach Tom Walter, the second-winningest coach in program history, won his 350th game at the helm of the Wake Forest baseball program with the 16-11 series finale victory against Duke on Sunday. 

  • Wake Forest has won three ACC series this season, taking Friday and Saturday contests at Georgia Tech and Boston College while sweeping Duke for their first home conference series win of 2022. 

  • With their 15-10 win in the series opener against the Eagles, the 2022 Demon Deacons reeled in its 20th victory in just 26 games, the second fastest since 2000 and the fastest in the head coach Tom Walter era.  

  • Heading into midweek action, Wake Forest ranked 25th in the RPI.

  • Wake Forest has the second-most overall wins (28) in the ACC. 

  • The Deacs have picked up five wins against top-15 opponents, four coming in ACC play. 

  • Overall, Wake Forest has outscored their opponents 366-227 this season with a team batting average of .311 with a .423 on-base percentage and slugging percentage of .521. 

  • Wake Forest has one of the top offenses in the entire nation and ACC as the Deacs rank in the top five in the conference in every offensive category, highlighted by a conference-best 246 walks. Additionally, the Deacs rank in the top 10 nationally in walks (fourth), runs (eighth), hits (eighth) and on-base percentage (ninth).

  • On the mound, Wake Forest's starting pitchers have combined for 176.1 innings with 170 strikeouts and just 95 earned runs allowed. 

  • 10 Demon Deacons have notched at least 10 base hits this season, led by Brendan Tinsman with a career-high 54 base knocks. Additionally, Brendan Tinsman (15), Brock Wilken (11) and Nick Kurtz (10) have all hit double-digit HRs. 

  • Wake Forest has been patient at the plate as the Deacs have been walked 246 times, the most in the ACC and the fourth most in the entire nation. The Deacs have been walked at least 10 times in five games this season. In all but one of those contests, Wake Forest has notched double-digit hits, while scoring double-digit runs in three of the five instances. 

  • Jake Reinisch has reached base in 39-straight games and leads Wake Forest with an on-base percentage of .497 and 39 walks. Heading into midweek action, Reinisch has driven in a run in seven of Wake Forest's last 11 games. Reinisch leads the ACC in walks while ranking second in on-base percentage. In the series finale against Notre Dame, Reinisch launched a three-run home run and tallied a career-high four RBIs. 

  • Freshman Nick Kurtz has strung together a stellar freshman campaign, tallying a .343 batting average with 49 hits to go along with a team-high tying 11 doubles and 10 home runs. With his pair of home runs against Clemson in the series finale, Kurtz is now tied for eighth for most home runs by a freshman in program history. He joins Brock Wilken (17 in 2021) and Brendan Tinsman (10 in 2019) as the only first-year Deacs to reach double-digit home runs since 2010. Additionally, Kurtz already ranks in the top-10 in runs scored (third) and walks (tied for fourth) by a freshman in program history. 

  • Camden Minacci has been the most relied upon arm coming out of the Wake Forest bullpen. In 31.1 innings, the sophomore has struck out 45 batters while only allowing six earned runs. Minacci's strikeouts rank second on the team, while he sports the lowest ERA (1.72) on the squad. Minacci has also tallied five saves, the fifth-most in the ACC, highlighted by earning back-to-back-to-back saves in three appearances in consecutive games. 

  • Tinsman has posted a career year in his fourth season in the Old Gold and Black, posting career highs in hits (54), doubles (10), home runs (15), RBIs (44) and slugging percentage (.717). Tinsman has homered in six of Wake Forest's last 10 games as the redshirt junior is tied for fourth in the ACC in long flies. Tinsman leads the Deacs in slugging, hits and home runs.

  • Michael Turconi, a career .302 hitter, is on pace to have a career year as the shortstop has posted career bests in triples (4), RBIs (43), slugging (.569), average (.320), on-base (.431) and stolen bases (5). Turconi is just two hits and walks away from setting new career bests for a season. Additionally, he needs just one more home run to set a new career high.  

  • A trio of Deacs are on milestone watch. Michael Turconi is 28 hits away from 200 career base knocks while Brock Wilken is eight hits away from 100. Friday night starter Rhett Lowder is just seven strikeouts away from 150 Ks. 

On Deck
Wake Forest returns home to David F. Couch Ballpark for two games against non-conference foe Longwood on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1. 

The first game of the weekend set is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start, while Sunday's contest will begin at 1 p.m.
