DALLAS, TEXAS - The Wake Forest women's golf team claimed their second title of the fall winning 3-2 over No. 9 Texas. Freshman Macy Pate secured the winning point for the Deacs, 4&2.

Rachel Kuehn scored the Deacs' first point during the championship against Texas. Kuehn took a one stroke lead on No. 1. After a streak of halved holes, Kuehn broke away with wins on No. 6, 7 and 8. Kuehn secured the victory on No. 14. The Asheville native tied it up for the Deacs winning her match 5&4.

Carolina Chacarra gave the Deacs the lead winning 3&1. Chacarra took the lead on No. 2 after tying the first hole. Texas golfer Lauren Kim tied it up on No. 6. Shortly after, Chacarra took the lead back with a birdie on No. 8. Kim tied it back up before the turn for Texas, but Chacarra took a two-point lead on No. 13 and 14. Coach's Comments
Coach Lewellen on winning the 2023 Jackson T. Stephens Cup -
"The format where you play stroke play then match play simulates what we do in our championships and as a coach you can't go home, you can't practice this, you can simulate this. You can't simulate the pressure; you can't figure out your pairings like we did. We got to see our freshman in the back and what she can do, and she handled it beautifully. The things we learn from this, playing on a course like Trinity Forest where the venue is phenomenal and the challenges the golf course provides, there's nothing like it. With the wind, the green complexes and how you can move the pins to where you can strategically play them in different ways, it is something that a coach can't simulate. We are so fortunate to be here and play in the event."

Coach Lewellen on winning as a team -
"There was some phenomenal play. We were looking like we would not make it to a top-two spot coming in yesterday. On our back nine, they lit it up on those last few holes. That shows their determination and when they need to get something done under pressure, they can do it. We had Anne-Sterre in the lineup and this is her second time she has been in our lineup. She came in with birdie-birdie which is huge in setting the stage for others to come in and follow. We are really proud of all of their performances."
