
Scotty Kennon Ends Day One at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational in the Top-Five

Junior Scotty Kennon shot a 67 (-3) during round one at Shady Oaks on Monday
WESTWORTH VILLAGE, TEXAS- The Wake Forest men's golf team completed the first two rounds of play at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational Monday afternoon. Junior Scotty Kennon finds himself in the top-five as the first day came to a close.
Kennon finished tied for fifth at Shady Oaks after an impressive performance through 36 holes. The junior started off Monday morning on the right foot, tallying back-to-back birdies on front nine.
The Florida native closed out round one strong with back-to-back birdies on the final two holes. Kennon completed the opening 18 holes with eight birdies and recorded a season-high 67 (-3).
During the second round, Kennon didn't miss a beat. The junior tallied two more birdies and an eagle on the eighth hole. Kennon ranked second in birdies so far in the tournament, recording 10 total through the first two rounds at Shady Oaks Country Club.
During the Demon Deacons' last tournament, Kennon finished seventh and picked up his first top-10 finish of the season. With two rounds in the books, Kennon ended day one at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational tying for fifth at 5-under-par.
The junior is in a position to make his second top-10 finish of the season and compete for the top spot at Shady Oaks Country Club.
The Deacs closed out their day as a team tied for ninth. Senior Michael Brennan helped the Deacs move up to the ninth position with an eagle on hole No. 9. Brennan shot 1-under-par to move up 16 spots at the end of round two.
Wake Forest is set to tee off Tuesday morning on hole No. 10 from 8:45 a.m. ET to 9:21 a.m. ET. The Deacs are paired with No. 17 Texas A&M and conference foe, No. 4 Georgia Tech.
