
Deacs to Face Stanford in East Lake Cup Title Match

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Wake Forest women's golf team defeated Southern California for the second time in five months to advance to the championship match of the East Lake Cup. The Deacs also defeated the Trojans in May for the 2023 NCAA Championship.
 
Sophomore Anne-Sterre den Dunnen was first out for the Deacs Tuesday morning. After falling to five down thru 12 holes, den Dunne fought back and won the 14th, then had back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16 to go two down with to to play. Her tee shot on the par-three 17th went straight to pin but rolled 15 past. Her birdie putt, to win the hole and play the 18th with an opportunity to tie, feel just an inch short. The Netherlands native conceded the match on the 17th green.
 
With Rohdes, Chacarra and Kuehn all winning their matches, the Deacs were ahead 3-2 after freshman Macy Pate also dropped her match, 4&3, on the 16th green. Rhodes entered the 16th hole up three with three to play, and won her match with a putt for par, 3&2.
 
Chacarra and Kuehn each won their matches back-to-back on the 17th green. After USC's Avery hit in the water and had to drop, Chacarra won with a bogey putt while Avery doubled the hole. Both Kuehn and USC's Kou had putts for par on the 17th and Kou missed long left while Kuehn sank one in from eight feet for the win
 
Match Play Championship
Wake Forest will face Stanford in the championship match Wednesday afternoon for the 2023 East Lake Cup team title. Tee times will begin at 12:20 in 20-minute intervals with GOLF Channel coverage beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET. A replay will air Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
