Deacons Head Out of State for First Conference Road Matches

ACC action continues for Wake Forest volleyball this weekend.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – With two straight weeks at home having wrapped for Wake Forest volleyball (11-4, 2-2), the Demon Deacons have turned their attention to week three of Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) competition and the seventh overall of 2023.
Trips out of state to Boston College (Oct. 6) and Syracuse (Oct. 8) will make up Wake Forest's weekend. These will be the team's first road matches within conference play.
Wake Forest's first time playing on the ACC Network will occur on Sunday (Oct. 8) at Syracuse, while Friday's match is set to be featured on ACC Network Extra. Both matches will also feature live stats.
Last weekend, the Deacs went 1-1 in matchups versus Clemson and nationally-ranked Georgia Tech.

Amid a colorful atmosphere on Friday evening (Sept. 29), Wake Forest brought the energy in its annual 'Dig Pink' match. Facing the Clemson Tigers in a third ACC test of 2023, the Demon Deacons finished the night on a 3-0 sweep (26-24, 25-21, 25-16).
Friday evening marked Wake Forest's third straight win over Clemson, dating back to Sept. 2022.
A third double-double of the fall happened for Paige Crawford, as the sophomore hitter ended with a match-best 16 kills in addition to 11 digs.
Making her first season start, Kylie Adams tallied 36 assists to set a new career high. The senior setter chipped in five digs and four assisted blocks as well, while tying her career best in aces (2).
Olivia Franke returned to the starting lineup and shined with eight kills on a .444 hitting percentage while making eight blocks. The latter was a season-best total for the middle blocker.
Freshman Olivia Fish posted nine kills (.350 attacking percentage) and five blocks.
Emma Farrell led all individuals in digs (16) while Kalani Whillock chipped in eight of her own.
Sunday, Oct. 1 – No. 11 Georgia Tech 3, Wake Forest 2
Opening the month of October with its first nationally-ranked test of 2023, Wake Forest volleyball maintained an admirable fight as a unit on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 1), hosting the No. 11 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Sets were traded and competitive play persisted through three hours before Georgia Tech was able to squeeze out a 3-2 win.
Paige Crawford recorded her second double-double in as many matches, totaling 17 kills and chipping in 10 digs. It was the sophomore's fourth double-double of the fall.
New season highs in kills (19) and blocks (7) happened for freshman hitter Ava Carney. Her classmate, Olivia Fish, notched 13 kills for her third season performance of double-figures in that category. Fish's line also included a .321 hitting clip and four digs.
Emma Farrell was the match leader in digs for a second time this weekend, finishing with 15. Kalani Whillock added eight.
Kylie Adams tossed out 34 assists and chipped in six digs. Her total in assists tied for a match high while the digs tied for a career-best mark. Rian Baker had 20 assists.
The contest ultimately ended as the first time Georgia Tech has been forced into a fifth set this year.
Wake Forest finished with an advantage in kills, digs and assists over the nationally-ranked Yellow Jackets.
