Deacs Record Solid Performances at Royals XC Challenge

Junior Emma Douglass and sophomore Paul Specht both notched top-10 finishes.

CHARLOTTE – The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country programs both recorded solid performances Friday at the Royals XC Challenge in Charlotte.
 
In the women's 5k, the Demon Deacons were paced by junior Emma Douglass, as the New Zealand native finished eighth individually. Freshman Ida Knutsson also had a solid outing for the women, clocking 18:47.71 and finishing 35th.
 
For the men, sophomore Paul Specht led the Deacs, recording a top-10 finish (24:54.19). Junior Colin Chapman (25:05.84) and sophomore Mark Trammell (25:20.12) joined Specht in the top-25 finishing 15th and 22nd, respectively.
 
Overall, Wake Forest finished third in the men's 8k and sixth in the women's 5k.

Up Next
Both squads will face their final regular season test next week as the women will travel to Charlottesville, Va., for the XC23 College & Open Pre-Nationals, while the men will head to Madison, Wisc., for the Nuttycombe Invitational.
