WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team is set to host BIG Ten opponent the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in the midst of a seven-game home streak to close out 2023. The Deacs and Knights will face off at 6:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday evening (Dec. 6) inside Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum and the game will air live on ACC Network.

Wake Forest is coming off an 82-71 home win against Florida last week (Nov. 29). The contest marked the 24th consecutive home win against a non-conference opponent, dating back to December 2018. The 11-point victory was Wake Forest's largest over an SEC opponent since the 110-76 win over LSU on Dec. 22, 2016. With the win, Wake Forest is 23-0 at home against non-conference opponents dating back to December 2018.

After trailing at the halftime break, the Demon Deacons outscored the Gators 50-35 during the second 20 minutes and ultimately forced 15 turnovers by the visitors. Wake Forest held Florida to its second-fewest points scored this season with 71 (70 vs. Virginia on Nov. 11.).

The Deacs were led by junior Hunter Sallis, who tied his career high of 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting (53.3 percent), in addition to four assists and four rebounds. It was his fourth 20-point performance of the season. Additionally, Sallis leads the team over the first seven games of the season with 19.1 points per game.

Senior forward Andrew Carr continued to close in on the 1,000-career points milestone, as he finished his 40th-career appearance in a Wake Forest uniform with 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting (61.5 percent). It was his second-highest point total of the year thus far. The West Chester, Pa. native also led the team with three blocks and six rebounds.

The backcourt duo of junior Cameron Hildreth and redshirt sophomore Kevin Miller added 29 combined points against the Gators. The former tallied six rebounds and four assists, both tied for a team high.

Heading into the Rutgers game, Wake Forest is the only school in Division I to have four players averaging 16+ points per game with Sallis, Miller, Carr and Hildreth all adding over 16 a game. The team is also fourth in the league in field goal percentage, shooting 47.4 percent from the field as a unit. The Deacs are fifth in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 36.1 from beyond the arc and are fifth in three-point field goals made with 56 total, averaging 8.0 per game.

The Deacs are currently ninth in the country and third in the ACC in free-throw percentage, shooting 79.7 percent from the line as a team. Individually, Cameron Hildreth is fifth, shooting 90.6 from the line.
