
Wake Forest Men's Soccer Partners with Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC to Raise More Than $12,000 at Third-Annual Goal-a-Thon

The funds will be split between the men’s soccer program and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC and will help provide meals for families in need in the Triad.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- For the third-straight year, Wake Forest men's soccer partnered with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC for the program's annual Goal-a-Thon to raise more than $12,000, with $6,161 of the proceeds providing more than 43,000 meals for families in need of food assistance in the greater Winston-Salem area.
On Saturday, Feb. 11, members of Wake Forest men's soccer from Stef Hamilton representing squads from the early years to the current 28-man squad participated in small-sided matches until 100 goals were scored.
The alumni in attendance included 2023 Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame inductees Sam Cronin and William Hesmer, 2020 Hall Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame inductee, 2007 National Champion and 2008 Mac Hermann Trophy winner Marcus Tracy, Brian Carroll, Brad McEachern, Ben Stafford, Peyton Smith, Jaron Barbee, Andrew Wright, Doug Ryan and Amir Lowery along with 2007 National Champions Pat Phelan, Austin da Luz, Jamie Franks, Evan Brown, Justin Lichtfuss and Lyle Adams.

I am incredibly proud of this program and all of the donors to this year's Goal-a-Thon for coming together to support families in need in Winston-Salem so that they can be ensured fulfilling meals," said head coach Bobby Muuss. "The work Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC does to ensure getting proper nutrition to the community in need is inspiring and this program stays committed to making an impact well beyond the game of soccer."
Later this month, the program will travel to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC to package the meals that will be delivered to families.
