No. 2 Demon Deacons Begin Spring Season in Sunshine State

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 2 Wake Forest women's golf team begins their championship season Sunday (Feb. 5) at the UCF Challenge at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
Top Two
The Deacs are coming off a successful fall season with two team titles and three second place finishes in their five team events. Wake Forest started their fall season in September at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in Minnesota, where they won the team title for the second time in three outings. The team followed that win up with a win at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate where they shot their lowest team score of the fall, a 21-under 831.
Wake Forest started October finishing first in the stroke play portion of the Jackson T. Stephens Cup but fell in the championship match to No. 1 Stanford. The Deacs closed out the fall season with two more events in October, the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite and the Landfall Tradition, both in North Carolina. Wake finished second in both events.
The Roster
Senior Rachel Kuehn leads the team with a 70.13 stroke average through 15 rounds in the fall. She finished first in stroke play at the Stephens Cup in October. Leading up to her win, Kuehn shot 10 under par at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate in Tennessee to finish tied for second. The Asheville native finished inside the top 15 in each event of the fall, ending T10 at the ANNIKA, T12 at the Tar Heel Invite and T6 at the Landfall Tradition.
Senior Lauren Walsh is third on the team with a 71.20 stroke average over 15 rounds. She started the fall season with her best performance, shooting a seven-under 209 at the ANNIKA for a T2 finish. She followed that up with a T29 finish at the Mercedes Benz. She had two more top 10 finishes, coming in T8 at the Stephens Cup and T4 at the Tar Heel Invite. She ended the fall with an even-par 216 at the Landfall Tradition for a T25 finish.
Graduate Emilia Migliaccio is fourth with a 71.53 stroke average over 15 rounds. She finished even or under par in four of the five fall events. She started the season with two top 20 finishes at even par, coming in T10 at the ANNIKA and T18 at the Mercedes Benz. She finished six over at the Stephens Cup for a T25 finish. The veteran closed the fall with her two best performances, shooting three under at the Tar Heel Invite and seven under at the Landfall Tradition. She finished T4 at both events.
Sophomore Carolina Chacarra is second on the team with a stroke average of 70.67 over 12 rounds. She did not compete in the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite but finished inside the top 20 in the other four fall events. She started the fall with a T19 finish at the ANNIKA and only got better. She had her lowest 54-hole score, a nine-under-par 204, at the Mercedes Benz where she finished fourth. The Spainard had her best finish at the Stephens Cup, coming in T3 with a five-under-par 211. In her final event of the fall at the Landfall, she finished T13.
Junior Mimi Rhodes competed in the lineup in all five fall events and is sixth on the team with a 73.73 stroke average. Her best finish came at the Stephens Cup. The England native finished even par at T16 on the leaderboard. She had top 40 finishes at the ANNIKA, Mercedes Benz and the Tar Heel Invite. She came in T55 at the Landfall Tradition.
Freshman Anne-Sterre den Dunnen is fifth on the team with a stroke average of 72.89 over nine rounds. She made her first career start at the Tar Heel Invite and played as an individual at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate at the Landfall Tradition. Her best finish came at the Landfall where she finished one under par and T20. She finished T26 at the Mercedes Benz and T33 at the Tar Heel Invite.
Wake Forest will be paired with UCF and Mississippi State off the first tee in nine-minute intervals beginning at 9:15 a.m. ET.
