The Demon Deacons will return to action Sunday, facing Boston College in the regular-season finale.

RALEIGH, N.C. – Despite a resilient effort, the 18th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 22 NC State Wednesday evening at the JW Isenhour Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C.

Notwithstanding Wednesday's result, the Demon Deacons (22-10, 6-5 ACC) still own a 7-1 ledger against the Wolfpack, dating back to 2017. Additionally, including Wednesday's contest, Wake Forest has outscored NC State 36-14 over the last eight meetings between the two sides.

With another victory in first singles, No. 7 Melios Efstathiou improved to 18-4 in dual singles action this season, including a 3-1 mark against his last four ranked opponents and a 15-4 overall record in Wake Forest's number one spot.

After facing an early deficit Wednesday, NC State (14-8, 8-3 ACC) took the doubles point behind victories on courts one and two, taking a 1-0 lead into singles action. The Deacs battled back to even the score on two occasions with wins in first and fourth singles but were unable to overcome NC State's home-court advantage, ultimately falling 4-2.

From Coach Bresky
"It was a tough evening. We had a tough stretch but had chances in doubles, especially when we were up a break. Things just didn't go our way. We played well in spots in singles but we didn't get it done. We'll look to bounce back Sunday at Boston College." - Head coach Tony Bresky
