No. 18 Wake Forest Set for Regular-Season Finale at Boston College

The Demon Deacons are looking to improve to 17-0 against the Eagles all-time.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The 18th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team will conclude its 2023 regular-season campaign Sunday when the Demon Deacons square off with ACC foe Boston College at the Weymouth Club in Weymouth Mass.
 
First serve is slated for 10 a.m., and live results can be viewed via StatBroadcast.
 
Wake Forest enters Sunday's match with a 22-10 overall record, including a 6-5 mark in ACC play. Of note, over their last seven matches, the Demon Deacons are out-scoring their opponents 27-18.
 
This season, Wake Forest has been led by senior Melios Efstathiou as the Limassol, Cyprus native owns a 18-4 dual singles record and is currently ranked the seventh-best singles player nationally by the ITA.
 
Postseason Outlook
Regardless of Sunday's outcome, the Demon Deacons have secured the six seed in next week's ACC Tournament, clinching a first-round bye. Of note, the Deacs' first day of competition at the annual tournament will be Thursday.
 
Additionally, Wake Forest is still in contention to potentially host a regional in the NCAA Tournament.

Last Time Out
Despite a resilient effort, Wake Forest dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 22 NC State Wednesday evening at the JW Isenhour Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C.
 
Notwithstanding Wednesday's result, the Demon Deacons still own a 7-1 ledger against the Wolfpack, dating back to 2017. Additionally, including Wednesday's contest, Wake Forest has outscored NC State 36-14 over the last eight meetings between the two sides.
 
With another victory in first singles, No. 7 Efstathiou improved to 18-4 in dual singles action this season, including a 3-1 mark against his last four ranked opponents and a 15-4 overall record in Wake Forest's number one spot.
 
After facing an early deficit Wednesday, NC State took the doubles point behind victories on courts one and two, taking a 1-0 lead into singles action. The Deacs battled back to even the score on two occasions with wins in first and fourth singles but were unable to overcome NC State's home-court advantage, ultimately falling 4-2.
 
The Matchup - Boston College
Boston College enters Sunday's contest with a 7-13 overall mark, including an 0-11 ledger in ACC play. Overall, in league play, the Eagles have won a total of eight games over 11 matches. Additionally, Boston College is coming off a 6-0 loss to NC State on Friday. Over their last six contests, the Eagles have scored a total of seven points.
                       
Wake Forest has never lost to Boston College as the Demon Deacons own a 16-0 record all-time against the Eagles. Over the last four meetings between the two sides, the Deacs have out-scored Boston College, 27-1.
 
Next Up
The Demon Deacons will travel to Cary to compete in the 2023 ACC Tournament next week. The first day of competition for the Deacs will be Thursday, April 20.
