GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest field hockey players Nat Friedman and Ellie Todd were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team, announced by the league Monday.
Friedman is a three-time All-ACC selection and is entering her final year of eligibility with the Deacs. The graduate student is also a three-time NFHCA All-Region selection. Friedman has started every single game of her collegiate career and has scored seven goals with 14 assists.
Todd was just named to the 2023 Women's Junior World Cup roster for January of 2024 and was invited to the Junior National Team Camp, coming up in December of 2023. Todd was a two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Week last season and earned Second Team All-ACC honors at the conclusion of the year. As a freshman, she appeared and started 19 matches in goal, posted a 14-5 record in 1017:35 minutes and notched 52 saves while allowing just 22 goals (1.30 goals per game). She finished the regular season third in the ACC with 49 saves and helped Wake Forest finish second in the ACC in goals allowed. On Sept. 23, Todd became the first Demon Deacon to tally double-digit saves in a match since 2015, registering a career-high 12 stops in first conference match against North Carolina.
The Deacs open the 2023 season Friday at North Carolina against Iowa, as part of the ACC/BIG Ten Challenge. They will also face Michigan in Chapel Hill on Sunday. Wake opens the season at home Friday, September 1, against William & Mary at 5 p.m. in Kentner Stadium.
