Deacs Close Homestand with Pair of Contests this Weekend

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 17 Wake Forest field hockey team wrap up a five-game homestand this weekend with a Friday matchup against No. 2 North Carolina and a Sunday matchup against Miami (Ohio).
Friday's match will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra at 5 p.m. Sunday's match will begin at Noon inside Kentner Stadium.
Wake Forest Highlights
• The Deacs are looking for their third-straight shutout in the match with UNC, having last accomplished the feat at the end of the 2022 campaign, shutting out Brown and Syracuse to end the regular season, before a 1-0 win over Duke in the first round of the ACC Tournament.
• The Demon Deacons are tied for the ACC lead with three shutouts through the first five matches of the 2023 campaign. The Deacs are averaging 4.20 saves a game ranking tops in the league while the .600% Sho/G ranks .171 better than any other team in the ACC.
• Faye Janse (6th) and Nat Friedman (9th) both rank in the top 10 of the ACC in shots per game with Janse averaging 2.80 and Friedman right behind her with 2.20 per game.
Opponent/Series History
• Wake Forest is preparing to take on North Carolina for the 84th time in program history.
• The Deacs are seeking their first win over UNC since a 3-1 victory during the 2017 season.
• The Demon Deacons are a perfect 7-0 against the Red Hawks having outscored Miami 29-6 in the series dating back to 1996.
