
Wake Forest Places Second at 49th Annual Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In a field that featured several teams ranked or receiving votes in the latest USTFCCCA Coaches Poll, the Wake Forest women's cross country team placed second overall in the 49th annual Paul Short Run Saturday at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in Bethlehem, Pa.
With Saturday's result, the Demon Deacons have now recorded consecutive top-two finishes to open the 2023 season.
Freshman Brooke Wilson continued her stellar rookie campaign as she placed seventh overall, clocking 20:29.1 in her second collegiate race.
As a unit, the Deacs notched 129 points en route to Saturday's second-place finish. Individually, Wilson was joined by graduate students Caroline Garrett (20:38.9), Lydia van Dijk (20:51.2) and Madeline Rehm (21:11.3), along with junior Leigh Walters (21:18.9) in completing the Deacs' top-five.
Overall, Wake Forest was one of only two teams (No. 24 Utah Valley) to have their entire top-five spread place in the top-50 Saturday.
