
Wake Forest Finishes Virginia Tech Invitational with Four Podium Finishes

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams took home four podium finishes at the Virginia Tech Invitational. During day two of the event, Thomas Kitchell claimed a first place finish and Ashlyn Giles took home third in the shot put.
On Friday, Jack Balick and Dillon Aryeh continued their success during the indoor campaign. In the men's 1000m, Balick claimed a first place finish (2:23.91) and Aryeh came in right behind in the second place spot (2:24.75). Both of these times ranked in the top-5 all-time at Wake Forest for the indoor 1000m.
After a dominant performance in the Visit Winston-Salem College Kickoff, Kitchell, Connor Mathis and Mason Ellis carried that success into Blacksburg Va. Kitchell claimed another first place finish and the second-longest indoor shot put throw in Wake Forest history (19.06m). Mathis made his second-straight fourth place with a personal best throw, 10th best in Wake Forest indoor shot put history (16.62m). Finally, Mason Ellis claimed the fifth place finish with a 16.68m throw.
During the Visit Winston-Salem College Kickoff, Amanda Schaare and Giles finished in the top-10 in the women's shot put. Giles added her second podium of the indoor campaign with her season-best throw and fifth best in Wake Forest indoor shot put (15.43m). Schaare claimed eighth place with the 10th best throw in Wake Forest indoor shot put with a 14.11m.
The Demon Deacons look to continue their success during the indoor season at Clemson for the Bob Pollock Invitational.
