Deacs Visit Top-5 Tar Heels on Monday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest men's basketball (13-5, 5-2) is set to step into its second Big Four matchup of the season on Monday (Jan. 22) when the Demon Deacons make an in-state trip to Chapel Hill to face No. 4 North Carolina (15-3, 7-0).
Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET and the contest will be nationally televised on ESPN. It will be Wake Forest's first test versus a nationally ranked opponent in 2023-24.
The Deacs are coming off a 90-65 home victory over Louisville, as the team caught fire from outside the arc en route to pouring in a season-high 18 three-pointers on 35 attempts (51.4 percent). The total of makes from distance ultimately ended as a second-best mark in program history, along with being the most in the head coach Steve Forbes era.
Wake Forest recorded 20 assists on 31 baskets during the Louisville win – the most in a single game this season and most since the game at Miami last season (22) on Feb. 18, 2023.
Five Deacons notched double figures in scoring, led by Hunter Sallis' 19 points. The junior guard came out of the gate aggressive, scoring eight points in the first five minutes, and ended the afternoon with a career-high tying five threes made.
Andrew Carr finished with 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including three three pointers, three rebounds and three assists.
Making his return to the hardwood, sharpshooter Damari Monsanto created an immediate presence in scoring 12 points on the day, going 4-of-6 from three-point territory.
Kevin Miller and Efton Reid III chipped in 11 points apiece, with the latter grabbing seven boards.
Cameron Hildreth was close to a double-double, totaling eight points and leading all individuals with 11 rebounds (tied for a career high). Parker Friedrichsen netted nine points on 3-of-5 shooting from the outside.
The Demon Deacons finished on a 31-of-62 clip (50.0 percent) in field goal attempts against the Cardinals, the sixth time shooting 50 percent or higher this season and third time in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play.

Team veterans RJ Davis (20.2 ppg) and Armando Bacot (10.4 rpg) rank among the conference's top leaders in scoring and rebounding, respectively. Bacot also is averaging 14.6 points and 1.9 blocks a night.
Transfer Harrison Ingram has started in all the team's 18 games while standing third on the roster in scoring average (12.4) and second in rebounding (7.8). Cormac Ryan is chipping in 11.1 points per game, rounding out a quartet of Tar Heels who average double figures in scoring.
