Wake Forest Returns to Action on Friday, Competing at the Royals XC Challenge

The women’s squad is slated to begin at 5:05 p.m. Friday evening.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's cross country squad is set to compete in the Royals XC Challenge in Charlotte, N.C., this Friday evening, Oct. 11, after securing a 17th-place finish ahead of No. 24 Northwestern and No. 30 Iowa State with 416 points at the highly competitive 6k Nuttycombe Invitational on September 27th.
The women's gold 5k is slated to begin at 5:05 p.m. Live results can be found here.

Racing for the Deacs
Brooke Wilson set the pace, maintaining her strong form with a 40th place finish and a time of 20:52.7 at the Nuttycombe Invitational last weekend, competing against some of the nation's top teams.
Demon Deacon runners, Elizabeth Whaley and Molly Dreher surged ahead, achieving 78th and 80th place, while producing times of 21:15.2 and 21:18.1.
Demon Deacons Look to Build on Last Year's Royals XC Challenge
During the 2023 campaign, Wake Forest notched sixth overall, earning 212 points at the Royals XC Challenge. The Deacs return senior standout Emma Douglass who led the way securing eighth place individually, clocking a time of 18:04.14.
She was joined by top-five finishers, sophomore Palmer Walstad (19:03.46) and senior Laura Giudice (19:29.57) finishing 53rd and 76th.
Primed for Friday's Contest
Wake Forest welcomes back Mia Prok, who finished 18th individually with a time of 21:52.92 in the 6k during her collegiate debut, contributing to the team's first-place victory at the Firetower Project Run, along with graduate student Charlotte Augenstein, who finished 25th, producing a time of 21:59.94.
In their debut performances, Carlita Kaliher, Emma DeVries, and Amy Weybrecht secured 32nd, 34th, and 50th places, posting times of 22:39.39, 22:42.86, and 23:11.75.
Up Next
The women's squads will compete at the Pre-NCAA meet in Madison, Wisc, on Oct. 19th, while the men will travel to Charlottesville, VA for the Panorama Farms Invitational.
