Chacarra Wins Third Individual Title of Career, Deacs Earn Third Place for Match Play

OKLAHOMA CITY - Wake Forest senior Carolina Chacarra earned her third collegiate individual title Tuesday afternoon at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. Chacarra is the second Deac in three years to win the event, following Rachel Kuehn in 2022. Wake Forest won the team title in 2023 as well.
Chacarra was one of just three players to finish the stroke play portion of the event under par, and the only player on the women's side. She won by four strokes. After shooting a four-under 66 in her opening round Monday, an even-par 70 in her second and third rounds maintained her spot atop the leaderboard.
Over the 54 holes, Chacarra led the field in scoring on par threes, fours and fives and recorded the most birdies with 10. This is the first individual title for Chacarra since winning the UCF Challenge and the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in the spring of 2022 when she was a freshman.
As a team, Wake Forest led the field in scoring on par fives and was second in scoring on par threes. The Deacs recorded the second-most birdies as a team with 25, along with 161 pars. Wake's final round score of +4 was the second-best of the day
Wednesday's Match Play
Wake Forest will face South Carolina in the third-place match Wednesday. Tee times begin at 11:30 and live coverage on Golf Channel begins at 4 p.m. ET.
