Two Deacs finished inside the top five.
FORT WORTH, Texas - The Wake Forest women's golf team has won its first team title of the 2024-25 season by two strokes Tuesday afternoon at the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Fall Invitational, hosted by TCU.
As a team, the Deacs led the field in scoring on par fours, were second in scoring on par threes and third in scoring on par fives. They recorded the second-most birdies on the field with 47, along with 152 pars.
Sophomore Macy Pate continued to lead the Deacs, finishing the event two under par and T2 on the leaderboard. She finished second in scoring on par fours and recorded 11 birdies, the most on the team. After starting the final round with back-to-back bogeys, Pate persevered and birdied the 8th to make the turn just one over on the day. A second birdie on the 11th got her back to even par, and a birdie on the 18th ended her round on high note with a scorecard of -1 for the day and -2 for the event.
Senior Carolina Chacarra was the only other Deac under par and also finished inside the top five in Texas, coming in T4 and -1 for the week. Chacarra also bogeyed the second hole in her final round but recorded three bridies before the turn, including back-to-back on the 8th and 9th holes. Following Pate's lead she also birdied the 18th to finish the day under par.
Junior Anne-Sterre Den Dunnen and freshman Denisa Vodickova both finished inside the top 20 at T13 and T17, respectively.
