
Deacs to Visit NC State for Big Four Road Matchup

Wake Forest volleyball continues its three-match road tilt with a trip to Raleigh.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest volleyball has its first midweek showing of the fall 2024 regular season this week, making the trip to nearby Raleigh for a Wednesday evening (Nov. 13) road test at NC State. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
Wednesday will feature the third Big Four season contest for the Demon Deacons. The match in Raleigh can be viewed on ACC Network Extra.
Wake Forest (13-12, 5-9 ACC) recently had its final out-of-state weekend this past weekend, competing at Florida State and Miami.

Wake Forest visited then-No. 24 Florida State last Friday evening. It was the Deacons' fourth test versus a nationally-ranked opponent this fall. The host Seminoles were able to capture a 3-0 victory (23-25, 23-25, 11-25).
Paige Crawford produced a team-best 10 kills while adding five digs. Her classmate, Emma Farrell, paced the defensive tempo – leading all individuals with 13 digs.
Tina Grkovic contributed six kills on a .444 hitting percentage. She and fellow middle blocker Dior Charles made a handful of rejections at the net, finishing with four and seven blocks, respectively. Charles also chipped in five kills.
Rian Baker posted 17 kills, four digs and two service aces. Sahara Maruska had five kills and five digs.
Wake Forest finished with the advantage in blocks over the Seminoles, 10-7.
Sunday, Nov. 10 – Miami 3, Wake Forest 1
This past Sunday afternoon saw Wake Forest volleyball wrap its weekend in The Sunshine State at the University of Miami, taking on the host Hurricanes in an afternoon thriller. The Deacs put up an admirable fight, capturing the opening frame, but fell in a 3-1 finish (25-20, 18-25, 28-30, 23-25).
Outside hitter Paige Crawford was active for the Deacs throughout the contest's entirety, finishing with 17 kills. The mark tied for her best in an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) contest this year. The Wimberley, Texas native also made a defensive effort with five digs.
Olivia Franke and Sahara Maruska each contributed eight kills. Franke was efficient in her hitting attempts (.500) and her kill total was the second-highest by the graduate student in conference play for fall 2024 thus far.
Setter Rian Baker reached over 30 assists for the second time this season, totaling 31, in addition to five digs and a pair of service aces.
Tina Grkovic chipped in six kills and a season-high seven digs. Laila Ricks had six kills of her own with four blocks. Five Deacs posted six or more kills.
Emma Farrell paced the defense with a match-best 13 digs, as six Wake Forest individuals tallied five or more.
Paige Pace
Having consistently led the Deacs' hitting tempo this year, Paige Crawford has totaled 10 or more digs in six of her last seven appearances. In addition, she has recorded 17 kills in three separate outings over the last three weeks. The junior continues to impact matches in other ways as well, including serving (team leader in service aces with 37) and defense (fourth on the roster in digs with 161).
