WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Year five of the Steve Forbes Era begins Monday night (Nov. 4) when the Demon Deacons host the Coppin State Eagles at 8 p.m. ET in the opening night matchup of the 2024-25 campaign inside Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Prior to the men's game, the Wake Forest women's basketball team will host Queens at 5 p.m. inside LJVM Coliseum.

The Deacons had two preseason tests, an exhibition against Alabama and a scrimmage with West Virginia. Against the Tide, Wake Forest was led by preseason First Team All-ACC selection Hunter Sallis as he tallied 16 points to go along with a pair of assists. Additionally, newcomers Omaha Biliew from Iowa State and Ty-Laur Johnson from Louisville tallied 15 points on five-of-six shooting and 10 points on four-of-seven shooting as well as five rebounds and four assists, respectively, in their Demon Deacon debuts.

As a team, Wake Forest shot 29-for-60 (48.3 percent) from the floor and nine-for-24 (37.5 percent) from beyond-the-arc. The Demon Deacons assisted on 16 of Wake's 29 made field goals.

Defensively, the Deacs forced the Crimson Tide into 14 turnovers and that led to 21 points. Also, Wake dominated the paint, outshooting Alabama, 32-22.

The contest was a back-and-forth affair early in the first half with the Deacs leading 23-22 at the 9:24 mark in the first half following Parker Friedrichsen's triple. However, that would be the last lead the Deacs would have as Alabama took an eight-point advantage (46-38) into the locker room at halftime.

Alabama controlled the second half; the closest Wake Forest pulled to was four points (53-49) at the 14:18 mark.
