
Wake Forest Track and Field Concludes 2024-25 Season Opener

The Demon Deacons shined in Boston and Winston-Salem, garnering nine podium finishes Saturday.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Demon Deacons successfully kicked off the 2024-25 track and field season, competing in the indoor Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener and the Visit Winston-Salem College Kickoff on Saturday.
The Deacs dominated in Boston with Luke Tewalt (13:36.03), Charlie Sprott (13:41.94), Joe O'Brien (13:44.31) and Paul Specht garnering personal-best times in the 5000m event.
In their Wake Forest track and field debuts, freshman JoJo Jourdon clocked 13:44.52 in the 5000m. Jourdon was joined by teammate and freshman Grant Morgenfeld, finishing in 14:02.
New Jersey native and freshman Angelina Perez made a remarkable Wake Forest track and field debut, recording a time of 15:47.38 in the 5000m, while Brooke Wilson followed with a personal best of 15:49.45, securing an impressive 32nd-place finish.
At the Visit Winston-Salem College Kickoff, Wake Forest shined with five first-place finishes. On the track, Hunter Jones delivered a standout performance in the 3000m, securing victory with a personal-best time of 8:04.77.* In the mile, Aiden Harrand also claimed the top spot, crossing the line in a winning time of 4:50.59* along with Mia Prok, finishing second with a time of 4:51.06.*
In the long jump, standout performer Robbie Grace claimed first-place with a strong mark of 5.86m, followed closely by graduate student Bridget McNally who took second, recording 5.82m.
Senior Jacob Goldberg started his 2024-25 season with a career-best in the weight throw, reaching an 18.43m (60' 5.75"). Additionally, Isabella Gera, secured first place in the shot put (14.99m) and earned fourth place in the weight throw with a mark of 17.66m.
