Wake Forest Caps Off the Indoor Season at the JDL Last Chance Invite

The Demon Deacons finished Saturday with four first place finishes

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest indoor men's and women's track and field teams finished their successful day at the JDL Last Chance Invite Saturday afternoon. The Demon Deacons collected 11 podium finishes in Winston-Salem, N.C.

In the women's shot put the Deacs claimed the top-four positions. Isabella Gera secured the first place finish with a 15.18m throw. Ashlyn Giles finished in second place with a 15.09m throw, in third place Leia Braunagel recorded a 14.74m throw and in fourth Casey Sullivan notched a 14.35m throw.

Thomas Kitchell notched his eighth podium finish of the indoor campaign in the men's shot put. Kitchell claimed the first place finish with a 18.32m throw. Mason Ellis secured a third place finish with a 16.64m throw.

In the women's 3000m, Gabriella Castro ran a 10:19.51 to finish second in the event. Mia Boardman added a second place finish to the podium count with a time of 1:00.18 in the women's 400m. Laura Giudice claimed a first place finish in the women's 800m with a time of 2:16.05.

In the last field events of Saturday, Jacob Goldberg finished in second with a 18.20m throw in the men's weight throw. Additionally, Megan Cook and Katrina Andreassen finished on the podium in the women's weight throw. Cook secured a first place finish with a 18.88m throw and Andreassen finished in second with a 17.97m throw.
