Demon Deacons to Bring in Panthers on Tuesday Night

Wake Forest and Pitt will meet again early in the week.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Three weeks of regular-season competition are left on Wake Forest men's basketball's remaining slate, as the Demon Deacons next turn their attention to a Tuesday night home showing versus Pitt (17-8, 8-6) inside Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Tip off is set for 9 p.m. ET and fans can watch the game on ACC Network.
The Deacs and Panthers met late last month in Petersen Events Center (Jan. 31), with the latter taking the first matchup, 77-72.
Wake Forest most recently visited the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday (Feb. 17).
Last Time Out
Wake Forest continued road action this past weekend, stepping into Charlottesville to face No. 21 Virginia on Saturday (Feb. 17) for a second matchup of 2023-24. Things were tightly played until the very end, with the host Cavaliers holding on for a 49-47 win.
Playing back in his home state, Efton Reid III led the Demon Deacons with a double-double of 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Six of his boards happened on the offensive glass.
Hunter Sallis finished with a team-high 12 points for Wake Forest – 10 of which occurred in the second half. The junior guard has notched double figures in scoring through each of the team's 25 games this season.
Kevin Miller chipped in nine points in 27 minutes while Andrew Carr snatched eight rebounds.
Man in the Middle
Continuing to give his Deacs an interior presence, Efton Reid III has upped his efficiency through conference play and currently holds a 53.6 field goal percentage through such games. He also stands fifth in the league in ACC rebounding (8.43/game) and has notched a pair of double-doubles in the last three weeks.

Through the month of February, the Demon Deacon defense has notably neutralized conference foes in three-point success, holding its last five opponents to a collective 25.7 shooting clip from beyond the arc. That same effort has Wake Forest ranked third in three-point field goal percentage defense (31.5 percent) in ACC play (14 games thus far):

Fresh off an 86-59 Saturday victory at home versus Louisville (Feb. 17), Pitt has now won five games in a row. The team is tied for fourth place in the conference standings with Wake Forest and NC State. On the road, the Panthers are 6-2 overall.
Recent performances of scoring outbursts by senior forward Blake Hinson moved him to third in points per game among all ACC players (19.2). He additionally leads the league in three-pointers made (3.64/game). Guards Carlton Carrington and Ishmael Leggett round out a trio of double-digit scorers on the roster, averaging 13.1 and 12.1 points per game, respectively. Playing major minutes as a freshman, Carrington also is sixth in the conference in assists (4.4/game). Junior center Federiko Federiko is the team leader in blocks (1.44/game) – a nightly average that is good for seventh in the ACC.
Pitt head coach Jeff Capel is the reigning ACC Coach of the Year and in his sixth season leading the Panthers.

Since the start of the 2021-22 season, Wake Forest is 44-5 inside LJVM Coliseum. During that time, Wake Forest won 15-straight games on its floor, which was the longest home-win streak since the Deacs went 22-0 during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. With the Jan. 17, 2023, win over Clemson, head coach Steve Forbes has defeated every ACC team at least once in less than three seasons.
